~ PASSAGE 175 ~
TEMPORARY RETREAT

Gailwind was quick to come up behind the ranger and drag him away from the fierce action lest he get hurt. Erelis got nicked in the neck by his indignant foe who regained his weapon and sent wild hacks at the blind-fighting psionic. Nanith was shoved into the corner by his attacker who found the rogue's attempt at defense quite bothersome. Aramil fired off two errant arrows as the battle continued to turn against the fellowship. Vrai received a mortal knife wound to the head which demoralized the three other heroes in the room. It was clear death was imminent as the rogues eyes slowly filled with horror.

Being trapped with no place to run seemed to spur Nanith into an all-out attack and he traded hard, bone-cracking blows with the enemy before him. Erelis got slammed across the head with the brunt of a mace. He staggered back holding his balance with what strength he had left. As the goblin moved in for the kill, Erelis sliced his scythe with a whizzing uppercut that cleaved the goblin's face in two.
The other goblin hacked away at the archer's dead body apparently taking out congested anger. Aramil came up behind and jabbed his dagger into the nape of its neck. It groaned and rolled over never to move again.

Gailwind burst into the room, saw Nanith in trouble, and raced on over with nimble feet. With death on the line, the hobbit managed to fend off his attacker with all the will left in him. Gailwind ended the challenge by stabbing the monster in the back. The silver protrusion of a dirk poked through the beast's fur vest followed by a waterfall of blood drenching its stomach.

" No more." Nanith breathed out as he slumped down upon the floor. The heat of battle had taken all energy out of him. " I must rest. We must all rest." Nanith regarded Erelis's sulking frame before slowly moving his gaze over his own blood-pulped body.

" We can move forward no more." stressed the lorist. " This is beyond us. We are getting whittled down to nothing." He turned to the healthy mage " We need to seek out the others before we collapse entirely."

Aramil cleaned off his dagger with a scrap of hide and agreed " We've done all we could for today, that's for sure, but I think that we can still be successfful in here if we heal up properly."

The hobbit tore off his cloak and slowly began creating makeshift bandages while Gailwind returned to the main hall and listened at the center door. He reported no sound. They all inspected the ranger and found out he was barely breathing; Teflar was upon death's doorstep for sure.

NOON: Aramil gathered the others around him in the lobby and stated their next plan. " We return to the trophy room and rest for two days. Hopefully, we have our injuries healed. Right now, we have enough rations to last us three days, so we must decide after our respite how we should spend our last 24 hours if don't come upon any other sustenance. Escaping or continuing; both may prove trying."

Nanith, sitting flat on the ground, nodded at the mage while . He was clearly exhausted and badly bruised. " I agree. The creatures we just killed might have some rations on them." The rogue crawled to a standing position with a grimace " Hopefully, luck will be on our side."

While the motley crew guarded the hallway, the thief carefully searched the last bunkhouse and found nothing but scraps of foul meat. Disgusted, they moved slowly back to the trophy room carrying the feeble ranger in tow. Aramil grabbed the doorhandle and said quickly and quietly " Be ready to act fast. We don't know if the others still live."
