~ PASSAGE 155 ~
SHUT-INS

The party became intrigued with the dwarfs' meticulous eye and they advanced cautiously upon the short wall. " Is it safe to get over?" whispered Gailwind. His concerned glance fell on the others before settling awkwardly upon the rogue " Should we all go or just send the thief to investigate?"

Naniths jaw slumped to the floor as the lorist made his proposition.
" Hello!" the recruited hobbit exclaimed, waving his arms in the air.
" Im right here. Im not a puppet on strings you know!" He was visibly irritated and demanded some say in his excursions.

Aramil looked at the little thief and cupped his hands nevertheless.
" Need a boost?"

Nanith blushed in irritation and was about to add some more protest until Vrai caught everyone's attention. The archer had turned in the doorframe and was looking back into the dank room.

" What?!" piped up Roslyn " What's wrong, Vrai? Is it the white dragon?"

" Something is coming!" responded the mercenary under his breath " I hear much scuffling about!"

Teflar pushed himself past the mercenary to look out. After a few seconds, he responded to the archer " I see nothing. But perhaps we have been found out. I learned to trust your ears long ago, soldier." Teflar moved them both back into the room with a solid close of the door. The ranger turned and moved to the rogue as if to pick him up, but stopped short
" Now is not the time for protest. Right now we are trapped and need your skills to help us go forward."

A frown covered Ninnipin's face " Well....okay, but I wish to be consulted from now on. I will go only because that is what would be best."
Gailwind seemed to blush and held his thoughtful gaze at the hobbit's feet.
In seconds, Nanith propped himself up onto the crenulated surface with help from the wizard. He stressed to everyone " Wait here for my return." The rogue then dropped to the other side disappearing without a sound.

Erelis said casually while they waited in the dungeon room. " Is there a reason why this hobbit causes so much tension?"

The sage responded simply " There is more to this one than meets the eye. Stay on guard." That is all the elf would comment on until the rogue returned.

The ranger held the quiet kobold against him and seemed to worry about the party splitting up. He suggested sending a couple people along with the thief to protect him now that monsters were after them.

" Don't be ridiculous, Teflar." clamored the dwarf as he rested against the low wall " I don't know about you, but I'm still hurting from that black shadow attack. Let's just wait this out."

Roslyn agreed " Nanith didn't want anyone trying to follow him; he depends on not being seen to do his job. I think we had best try to use this time to prepare for whatever is coming down the hall."

Vrai placed his ear to the egress " They are on the other side. If my intuition serves me, I'd say there is a swarm of rats milling about."
Suddenly the door banged as if something was trying to get through. The archer backed away and swiftly drew his dagger. " I don't know how we will fare, but I think there are at least a dozen of them!"
