The wizard shot up quickly at the sound of the ranger's voice. " Moran, stay here." he instructed while fastening his crossbow securely to his side. " Let me know if anything comes this way to trouble those that stay on this floor. Be well." He grabbed hold of the rope while the other two scuttled close to the entrance in an attempt to witness the most heinous sight. Aramil rapidly descended leaving Roslyn to watch after with stark fear in her eyes. Gailwind felt even worse; he trembled softly at the warning of undead loose in the lower level.
Roslyn crawled next to the sage " I want to make sure you feel all right here by yourself before I climb down this rope. I should be aiding them in any way I can. If you wish me to stay with you...I will." She looked expectantly at Gailwind as his eyes widened in fright. He responded " I cannot tell you what to do, but I should go and fetch the priest. He alone will know how to help us." Moran flapped his wings as if willing to accompany the lorist and leave this tower as soon as possible.
Roslyn took a deep breath. " If you feel the cleric is needed, then indeed go fetch him. I think I would feel better knowing you were out of this tower than staying here alone. Be safe and hurry!" She watched Gailwind assemble another climbing rope and hoist himself up through the trapdoor. With a reluctant sigh, she accepted her fate and slid down the lower hole to join her company for better or worse.
Gailwind scampered through the hole, adjusted himself and raced after the falcon who screeched out of the gloomy tower. Even the light of midday did nothing to soften the structures ugly precense.
The elf found the opening in the wall, passed through easily, and ran across the field where he saw the dwarf relaxing on a nearby rock.
Gailwind panted hard " Oktavianus, the party is in danger! The undead roam the lower levels!!"
Oktavianus, who had been in the process of praying, snapped from his meditation " What?!!" he barked hoarsely.
" They are all under attack! We must leave now!" The lorist scanned the deserted clearing " Where is Krisaya?!"
The priest scrambled from the broad boulder and tucked his medallion in his sidepouch. " She left as soon as we buried Salimen. Three mercenaries came out of the battle and needed to be led north on a secret flanking manuever. It seems the orcs scattered into tiny bands and are attempting strange hit-and-run tactics." The cleric hefted his warhammer " Enough of the smalltalk...let's go!"
The pair raced into the tower as Moran circled above the fortress in wide sweeps. It seemed distressed and sent out a strange shriek as it looped near the inner courtyard.
The dwarf was surprised as he spied the secret trapdoors the party had used to descend into the two basements. He jumped down to both levels ready to do battle with the undead!
