Aramil sat back into his hard chair " Well, we have concerns with that fortress that you now know about. Perhaps a clue lies within. We must go back, unfortunately, to find any friends left behind. If you destroy the orc horde, our mission can be resusitated."
Metlivon's face constricted in thought " We are in full support of tearing down this fortress. We are ready to pounce in two day's time and you may have your capacity to continue seeking this starpoint, but first....what is this "shard" capable of doing?"
Teflar became agitated " I believe our cooperation is at an end until you start telling of what you
know of this political situation. Why should I not worry about the person that accused me? If they
could be a possible lead, it would be a great boon. However, if it was one
of you two who accused me to get us to spill our guts..."
Teflar's eyes narrowed as he moved behind one of the chairs " I want to make sure
I'm not jumping out of the fire and into the dragon's lair so to speak!"
Metlivon answered the ranger as he got restless " If you care to find out who it is, you must head to trial. We aren't given any special access to murder witnesses. You must choose between political high stakes or fighting alongside Pinedroi to restore our western territory. "
Wrapping his hands around the sides of the chair, Teflar raised his eyebrows at Aramil as if stuck in a quandry.
Aramil rearranged his robe " Captain Metlivon, please do not take the following words I say wrong. Perhaps me and my companion, Telfar, could have a few moments to discuss the options you have given us? I am sure we can provide a full and informed answer to what our desires are and upon acceptance of your aid you offer. I hope you understand my good, Sir."
Metlivon studied the wizard " Very well, but I wonder what more you have saved in your mind. You are already exposed to the world by your group's careless actions. Why snap the tightrope you now balance on?" With that, the officials left the room leaving the pair to discuss their last options.
Aramil turned his chair to face Telfar " Let us make a full group decision because it is not just you or me in this endeavor regardless how I feel about its erroneous path. There is a possible benefit to seeking the destruction of the orcs. If we find the others, Gailwind could possibly determine if they are local or foreign orcs. Those that stole the shard must know we are coming. Perhaps we might be able to ascertain what region they are coming from and, if we are lucky, they may have written orders."
Teflar watched the door carefully. " I do not trust those two, but I admit that we must believe in something right now even though we don't know their full intentions." Quickly scratching an errant bug-bite on his ankle, he looked up from his bent position.
" I agree with you in gathering information and horses.
Maybe we will have a better understanding of who is with us and who is
against us as this trek plays out."
Aramil paced away " Let us union with our lost comrades before telling any more of our shard secrets." The wizard opened the door signalling the warmarshalls that their discussion was over.
Kalavant commented on Aramil's notion. " We can organize a special band to help you out in the finer tactics of recovery if you fear you haven't the resiliency at this time."
Teflar agreed with his partner and even asked for desireable food apart from the staple of water presented to them on the table.
