I like my family.

I'm an only child, but I have lots of aunts, uncles, cousins and cats.  My mom's side is pretty conservative and my dad's side, well, they're from West Virginia.  So I hear they found a new use for sheep in West Virginia - wool. (Never tell me this joke when I'm in a van in a school parking lot because I will hit the car behind me in an effort to come after you.)

Anyway, here's a little photo thingy of my fam.

My Immediate Family

These are my parents.  They went to Europe for their 25th wedding anniversary.  I think this was taken in Jaungfrau.

I am such a daddy's little girl.  He had his 50th birthday this summer so I went up to surprise him at his party, which is why he's wearing a silly hat.  He may be 50, but he's really just a big kid.  We both like Cat's Cradle by Vonnegut, the "X-Files," and the same music.  I love my dad bunches and bunches and I want to grow up to be just like him.  I don't know anyone else as selfless as he is.  He's also taught me a lot about God and has been a steadying force in my life.

This is my mom and I love her lots too.  She also turned 50 this year, though she's quick to point out that Dad's older.  She's uber creative and an excellent seamstress, so I con her into making some of my clothes and mending everything under the sun.  She really likes sewing machines.  Let's leave it at that.

This is my cat, Hannah.  She looks deceptively sweet, but if you try to pet and she doesn't want to be petted, she will gnaw you to bits, which is actually quite often.  Hannah runs our house and is gracious enough to let us stay there.  I think it's because we feed her.
Besides aggravating my mother, Hannah's favorite pastime is getting into mischief, especially if it involves making a bed.  Here she's "helping" my parents with my new mattress.

This is Hannah with Maggie, my mom's cat.  Maggie's fat, dumb, and whiny.  Mom gets all bent out of shape when I say that, but it's true.  She's seven years old and still jumps at her shadow - not the brightest light in the hall.&  So I will appease Mom by saying that she purrs a great deal and that's kinda sweet.

I live in suburbia when I live in Charlotte.
Up, up and away!

My Mom's Side

This is my cousin, Carla.  She just keeps getting cuter and cuter.  I love her to pieces.  I've claimed rights on getting her her first makeup kit and my Aunt Ruthie's getting her a drum set as soon as she's old enough.  Her parents are thrilled.

See what I mean?  Here she is at almost two.  How adorable is that?!

This is my Papaw, Mamaw, and Dad.  My Mamaw will let you know exactly how it is or how it should be.

This is Molly and one of her cats, Phoebe (named after a character in Catcher in the Rye, not the character on "Friends").  Molly is amazing.  She graduated college in three years with an English degree and now she's in Law School with her kick-butt boyfriend, Jason.  But that's not why I would do anything for her except go to NYC.  We've been writing each other letters since 1989 and she knows me better than anyone else, probably because she and I are essentially the same person with different experiences.
Molly and I baked a "Happy Birthday, America!" cake for Independence day.

This is Molly with our other favorite cousin, Cori.  Cori's a model and lives in California, so we don't get to see her much.  I missed this visit, but at least Molly got to see her.
Up, up and away!

There's no place like home!
