Camp Greystone is a Christian girl's camp in Tuxedo, NC. It was founded in 1920 and has been in the Miller family since. It's a wonderful, magical place where girls are nice to each other, everyone wears white on Sunday, and there are no icky boys.Camp Greystone: Where a Greystone Girl's an Angel in Disguise
I worked in the kitchen at Greystone
from 1993-98. It all started with a church mission trip, as a way
to serve and get to know and share with the staff. I just kept coming
back until eventually I worked longer sessions independently. It's
just an awesome place with some of the coolest people I've ever met.
As an aside, when I first went to Greystone I couldn't understand why anyone
would want to go an all-girls camp and now I know I could never send my
(possible future) daughter(s) any place else.
Most of these photos are from 1998.
This is Goldie making a ravioli can tower. When he was done it touched the ceiling. That was also the day that the health inspector came. We made a 98.0%. I don't think he ever heard about the tower...My best friend, Laura, is a very creative girl. She turned zucchini stuffing into a turtle. After that she sculpted a horse head and the camp director's face. Talented? Yes. A little scary? Absolutely. I like the Wal-Mart in Hendersonville. I like it even more when rednecks aren't chasing me and asking me if I want to go get a 40 with them.

All the police cars in Hendersonville have names on them (above the door handle it says "Lyle"). It's a little freaky.
So we lived in the plushest of accommodations.. oh, wait - no we didn't. Laura and I claimeed the "best" room in the house. It had holes in the floor and ceiling, was separated from the bathroom by plywood, and had peeling lead paint. Don't even think about A/C. But it was cool because no matter what we did, it couldn't get worse. (That white bar is a post - the room was L-shaped.)
Here's another. The sheet was a nice way to cover the plywood.
One more... Isn't that a nice fuse box?
