Who we are... What we do... Why we do it?
The Beginning:
This organizaton was started on a whim, to see if we could get a float together for the St. Louis Mardi Gras Parade. A small group of us started meeting to plan for the event, and the rest is history. After our first year together we decided to form a recreational organization, so we could raise money to put the float together each year and to also be able to have money to donate to our local charities. This will be our 6th year in the parade in St. Louis, but our 5th year as a non-for-profit organization.
We get together at least once a month, and have 2 or 3 fundraisers each year. In October we enter the Belleville Chili Cook-off and have fun making and serving many gallons of chili in hopes to win the first prize. We were able to win in 1999. During the winter months we get together more often to work on the float idea aand construction. We also try to have a Mardi GrasBall of our own, with raffle prizes, 50/50 drawings, food and entertainment. Come Mardi Gras time we are busy getting ready for the big parade. Around July or August we work at the Gateway International Raceway raising as much as possible.
This is an easy organization to belong to,but it takes some hard work. with alot of fun included. |
