INTRODUCTION
The competition rules of the World Union of Karate-do Organizations are the adopted karate sports rules of the WOMA Karate Committee. WOMA Rules and Regulations, for the most part, augment and extend the WUKO Rules for competitions. In the WOMA Karate Rules, competition divisions are expanded to include all ages and sexes of an athlete. Uniform requirements are liberalized to encourage developmental programs, and the duties of tournament officials have been structured to provide better organized Karate competitions. The WOMA Rules prudently enhance safety in competition with special consideration given to regulations for the young athlete. Finally, in using the WUKO Rules as the basis for competition in Karate, the WOMA has adopted the system that is in use in all over the world and which is destined to become the Olympic standard for Karate Competition.
CREED
OF THE WOMA KARATE REFEREE AND JUDGE
The attitude and quality of judgment shown by WOMA karate Referees
and Judges not only exerts a profound influence on the outcome of the
competition, but also on the growth of the youth of our country and the
general development of traditional Karate-do worldwide.
As
a WOMA Karate Referee and Judge, I pledge that:
I
WILL at all times remain absolutely neutral and impartial showing all
honesty and fairness in the application
of the rules to all.
I WILL manifest dignity and
self-possession in every action.
I
WILL with the utmost attentiveness, concentrate on and accurately observe
every detail of the competition, passing careful
judgments on every move of the contestants.
I
WILL speak only to others of the judging panel or tournament officials
during the match and I will not converse
with
contestants, officials, and spectator unless as necessary under the rules.
I
WILL demonstrate exemplary efficiency, speed, and refined behavior,
setting a good example to those whom
my
actions will influence.
At all times during a competition, I shall express those qualities of character, honor and leadership keeping in mind not only the aims and goal of the WOMA, but also the spirit of traditional karate-do.
