The following is a description of our committees. If you are interested in becoming involved in any of the listed committees please contact us by e-mail or phone.
Welcome Aboard
The purpose of this committee is welcome new spouses stationed at VP-26. This communication process may begin before the spouses as even arrived in Maine. You will help be their support in finding information they may need in the local area. You also will help put together a welcome aboard packet filled with valuable information on the local area. Long-term goals are to greet new spouses as well as provide a welcome aboard basket.
Baby Tridents Committee
The purpose of this committee is to pamper the VP 26 expectant parents and new arrival. The goal is to support the parents and welcome the baby in the least intrusive way. This is done by putting together a baby basket and delivering them to their place of residence. The welcome baby sign is also placed in their yard and removed one week later. You will also be asked to help prepare meals and deliver them. Should the baby arrive early, you may be asked to do this last minute.
Fundraising
The purpose of this committee is to coordinate and participate in frequent fundraising events throughout the year. This committee is usually working on a minimum of two fundraisers at a time. Organization skills are key because you will be asked to head up at least one fundraiser a year, with much support for the other members of the group.
Sign
This committee will work closely with the Fundraising committee. They will prepare all signs for activities or fundraisers.
Children's Activities
The purpose of this committee is to organize activities for the children and their families to participate in. This can include anything from setting up a playgroup to finding an event that appeals to all age ranges. Some examples of children activities are, a Movie afternoon, sporting event, ice-skating, roller-skating, hiking trip, Easter party, etc. This committee will be asked to provide 6 children events per year. You will not be responsible for supervising the children.
Adult Activities
The purpose of this committee is to coordinate social activities for the spouses. This will include planning 1 monthly activity. An example will be our monthly dinners. Other examples could include a lunch group, book group, a new skill to be taught, etc. This will be up to the committee to determine.
Sunshine
This committee will be responsible for the morale in the club. They will keep track of member's birthdays, sympathy cards, etc. This could include a cake for meeting, announcing the birthdays for the month at the meeting. This committee can determine what additional support they would like to provide.
