Ok,
First off, I should've known better than to think that any straight to DVD movie would be any good, but I figured hey, Ray Romano and Kevin James, it could have potential. There might be some funny parts, right? Ehhh, wrong, nothing going on here.
The premise of the movie is that Ray and KJ are meat salesmen, yep, actual sirloin, rib-eye, whatever, meat salesmen. They are down on their luck, and about to get fired when their last lead takes them into a twisted plot involving a series of hitmen, one of which played my Michael Rappaport. I thought I could take solice in the extremely hot hispanic chick in the movie, until they revealed that she used to be a man......
Just as I was about to shut the movie off, Burt Reynolds showed up, and brought some saving grace to the movie. He's the badass uncle, grandfather, whatever, that bought his nephew/grandson a hooker for his barmitzva, however you spell that crazy jew word.
People die, they make the sale, the end......
....I wouldn't tell you the entire plot line of the movie,
except that if you are at all intelligent, you won't bother to watch the movie.

Words that came out of my mouth after I played Crackdown for 4 hours straight this evening. That my friends is a hell of a fun game. I've already got 200+ orbs, and 3 stars on agility and punching.
This game is everything Mike and Eric talked it up to be, and more.
Wow.

Hey everyone ... while I haven't been able to post much ... I've been kicking around some ideas for a podcast. I've been leaning mostly toward a "Dude's Podcast" that focuses on Video Games, Sports, and entertainment ... with Video games being the meat and potatoes.
Eric is in ... and I think Derek is in ... but the rest of you are welcome to get in on this ... at least once in awhile.
Here is what you will need ...
-Skype and a microphone.
-The program Audacity to record your audio. http://www.download.com/Audacity/3000-2170_4-10058117.html
-about 2 hours free time either Sat or Sun <
I'll write up a bunch of topics and send them to you ... and then we will have a skype conferece call with everyone recording their own audio on their computer. When the call is done ... you guys will save your audio as an mp3 file and then send it to me. I will splice them together in post so the audio quality is good.
It should be fun ... at least a good excuse to get together and shoot the shit for a couple of hours a week. I'll worry about all of the technical stuff ... you just need to bring your voice, jokes, and opinions.
Peace.

Advice to Young Men from an Old Man
1. Don’t pick on the weak. It’s immoral. Don’t antagonize the strong
without cause, its stupid.
2. Don’t hate women. It’s a waste of time
3. Invest in yourself. Material things come to those that have self actualized.
4. Get in a fistfight, even if you are going to lose.
5. As a former Marine, take it from me. Don’t join the military, unless you want to risk getting your balls blown off to secure other people’s
economic or political interests.
6. If something has a direct benefit to an individual or a class of people, and a theoretical, abstract, or amorphous benefit to everybody else, realize that the proponent’s intentions are to benefit the former, not the latter, no matter what bullshit they try to feed you.
7. Don’t be a Republican. They are self-dealing crooks with no sense of honor or patriotism to their fellow citizens. If you must be a Republican, don’t be a “conservative.” They are whining, bitching, complaining, simple-minded self-righteous idiots who think they’re perpetual victims. Listen to talk radio for a while, you’ll see what I mean.
8. Don’t take proffered advice without a critical analysis. 90% of all advice is intended to benefit the proponent, not the recipient. Actually, the number is probably closer to 97%, but I don’t want to come off as cynical.
9. You’ll spend your entire life listening to people tell you how much you owe them. You don’t owe the vast majority of people shit.
10. Don’t undermine your fellow young men. Mentor the young men that come after you. Society recognizes that you have the potential to be the most power force in society. It scares them. Society does not find young men sympathetic. They are afraid of you, both individually and collectively. Law enforcement’s primary purpose is to suppress you.
11. As a young man, you’re on your own. Society divides and conquers. Unlike women who have advocates looking out for them (NOW, Women’s Study Departments, government, non-profit organizations, political advocacy groups) almost no one is looking out for you.
12. Young men provide the genius and muscle by which our society thrives. Look at the Silicone Valley. By in large, it was not old men or women that created the revolution we live. Realize that society steals your contributions, secures it with our intellectual property laws, and then takes credit and the rewards where none is due.
13. Know that few people have your best interests at heart. Your mother does. Your father probably does (if he stuck around). Your siblings are on
your side. Everybody else worries about themselves.
14. Don’t be afraid to tell people to “Fuck off” when need be. It is an important skill to acquire. As they say, speak your piece, even if your voice shakes.
15. Acquire empathy, good interpersonal skills, and confidence. Learn to read body language and non-verbal communication. Don’t just concentrate on your vocational or technical skills, or you’ll find your wife fucking somebody else.

Hey guys ... not a ton has happened to me in the last week ... but I'll get you up to speed.
I found out my bonus check from 2006 is going to be about twice of what I thought it was going to be ... so I'm stoaked. Last year's check was for 650 and this year's is closer to 1300 ... and that is amazing. Couple that with the $1700 or so I'll be getting back from taxes and I'll be a very happy panda.
I'll transition straight into a congradulation to Eric and his recent engagement! And say that the extra money I will be getting will certainly help the "get Mike to Vegas for Eric's bacholor party" fund. And I know that Chad can't make it but I urge Derek to start saving a few bucks because it would be great if he could come. And don't worry ... its just the guys ... so we won't be doing anything too crazy. (Because believe it or not ... I think women make us much more wild.)
I'm sure Eric wants to give all the details of his news ... so I won't spoil anymore than that.
Other than that ... not too much going on ... went down to Ypsiliani last weekend to hang with Dustin and say goodbye to Jessica (who is moving to Arizona this week.) Once again ... probably stuff Dustin should be posting about ... not me ... (wink wink) ... yeah.
This week will probably be more of the same ... I will play Crackdown with Eric or by myself. I may go out and buy MLB 2K7 since the Tigers will be good in it ... in fact ... I'm sure I will. And I will probably get super drunk this weekend and maybe sing karaoke again. Look forward to more pictures.
Speaking of pictures ... Dustin ... I'll need to get ahold of Jessica to get some of the pictures she took while bowling.
And with that ... I'm out.

Not huge news but I was thinking about buying it for the Gamecube because I have a urge to play this game every now and then. So ... I'm not sure when it is coming out ... but I think it is about done and ready to be uploaded.

Crackdown is like crack.
It is so addictive that it's silly. I've gone into FF collecting mode and go nuts everytime I see an agility orb (I have to make it mine)
I've probably already put 8 hours into the game and it has the best co - op mode I've ever seen in a game. Being able to put two people in an environment like that without any real problems is amazing. Gears of War co-op is great ... but this is on a whole other level.
Gameplay is fun (but not without its quirks). The story works for what it is. And it is a blast to just mess around in the city with Incredible Hulk-like superpowers and guns. Throwing cars in the air and blasting them with a rocket launcher is great.
Chad ... I don't know if you are going to like this game as much as Eric or I do ... but download it and play it. THats an order.
GAME OF THE YEAR (So far) 9.5

"you only live once, so pick your friends, have a good time, and leave the personal opinions on faith out of it"
I don't want to pick on Chad Kowalski, who is the man behind this quote, because he is my best friend. But it stuck in my craw a bit. Because it seems good, but its not, its a lie. I can't live my life this was.
The epicurian persuit of fun and comfort can be good at times. We need our friends, we need to have fun, and its great. But when it becomes a philosphy of life, we miss so much. We miss caring and making a difference in the world. We miss all the pain and hurting people around us. People that are loved by God, and should be loved by us.
The following are a couple of stories from CNN.com that I have edited down a bit. They are just a couple of the many reasons why Chad's philosophy of life can't be mine. There is too much that needs to be done.
There is too much pain and suffering in the world for those of us who think ourselves as "good" to ignore it. And I can't leave my faith out of it (and I understand that what Chad was getting at was leaving faith out of whether or not you will be someone's friend). My faith is what makes me care, and further more, my faith is what gives me hope that these evils can be stopped, and that one day these type of things will no longer happen at all. That there is good and evil, and that things aren't simple pointless, meaningless, and random.
Girl, 6, embodies Cambodia's sex industry

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (CNN) -- At an age when most children might be preparing for their first day of school, Srey, 6, already has undergone trauma that is almost unspeakable.
She was sold to a brothel by her parents when she was 5. It is not known how much her family got for Srey, but other girls talk of being sold for $100; one was sold for $10.
Before she was rescued, Srey endured months of abuse at the hands of pimps and sex tourists.
Passed from man to man, often drugged to make her compliant, Srey was a commodity at the heart of a massive, multimillion-dollar sex industry in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
"It is huge," said Mu Sochua, a former minister of women's and veteran's affairs who is an anti-sex trade activist.
The precise scale of Cambodia's sex trade is difficult to quantify. International organizations -- such as UNICEF, ECPAT and Save the Children -- say that anywhere from from 50,000 to 100,000 women and children are involved. An estimated 30 percent of the sex workers in Phnom Penh are under the age of 18, according to the United Nations. The actual figure may be much higher, activists say.
Global sex industry
Around the world, more than one million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade each year, according to the U.S. State Department. The State Department believes Cambodia is a key transit and destination point in this trade.
"Trafficking for sexual exploitation also occurs within Cambodia's borders, from rural areas to the country's capital, Phnom Penh, and other secondary cities in the country," the State Department wrote in a 2006 report. "The Government of Cambodia does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so."
Sochua said that with millions of Cambodians struggling to live on less than 50 cents a day, many women turn to the sex industry. Poverty is also often what drives parents to sell their child or themselves on the streets.
"Always a child is left behind, often a girl, who is preyed on by traffickers," Sochua added.
An unlikely saviour
Srey was rescued from the life of a sex slave by Somaly Mam, a former prostitute who runs shelters for the victims of Cambodia's sex trade. Somaly has rescued 53 children, so far. Many of them have profound psychological trauma. Some clearly are mentally ill.
"A lot of them, when they arrive, have psychological problems ... very big problems. ... And they never have love by the people, by their parents," Somaly said.
One girl at Somaly's shelter appears especially disturbed. She was rescued after being imprisoned for two years in a cage, where she was repeatedly raped.
She needs psychiatric care, but there is none available. Somaly says she does her best to give this girl love and support, but that it's not easy with so many other needy children around.
Somaly herself suffered terrible ordeals when she worked the streets, including seeing her best friend murdered. She is determined to build something positive out of so much despair.
Her work has caught the attention of world leaders, celebrities and religious figures. Her office in Phnom Penh is adorned with photos of her meeting Pope John Paul II and messages of support from governments and charities.
Despite the attention, Somaly said the situation on the street is not getting better. Gang rapes of prostitutes are becoming more common, she said, and many of the attackers don't use condoms. Instead, they share a plastic bag.
"Poor women, they have been raped by eight, 10, 20, 25 men ... they hit them. They receive a lot of violence," she said.
HIV-AIDS also remains a persistent, though declining, problem among Cambodia's female sex workers.
About 20 percent of Cambodia's female sex workers are HIV-positive, according to Cambodia's Ministry of Health. This compares with the 39 percent of sex workers who tested positive in 1996, according to the Health Ministry.
To help sex workers transition to a more normal life, Somaly is hoping to expand her refuge in the countryside outside Phnom Penh, where former sex workers attend school and learn skills like weaving and sewing.
Asked what the future holds for Srey, Somaly stroked the girl's hair and paused.
Srey is HIV-positive, she said.
In such a poor country, without decent hospitals or medical care, Srey's future is bleak. Somaly just hopes she can make this girl's life bearable for as long as it lasts.
Teen 'sport killings' of homeless on the rise

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (CNN) -- All Nathan Moore says he wanted to do was smoke pot and get drunk with his friends.
Killing Rex Baum was never part of the plan that day in 2004.
"It all started off as a game," Moore said.
The 15-year-old and his friends were taunting the homeless man -- throwing sticks and leaves -- after having a couple of beers with him.
No big deal, Moore says, but he's sorry for what came next.
It was a mistake, he said, a sudden primal surge that made him and his friends Luis Oyola, 16, and 17-year-old Andrew Ihrcke begin punching and kicking Baum.
"Luis says 'I'm gonna go hit him,' We're all laughing, thought he was joking around,'" but he wasn't, Moore concedes. "We just all started hitting him."
They hurled anything they could find -- rocks, bricks, even Baum's barbecue grill -- and pounded the 49-year-old with a pipe and with the baseball bat he kept at his campsite for protection.
Ihrcke smeared his own feces on Baum's face before cutting him with a knife "to see if he was alive," Moore said.
After destroying Baum's camp, the boys left the homeless man -- head wedged in his own grill -- under a piece of plastic where they hoped the "animals would eat" him.
Then, Moore says, they took off to grab a bite at McDonald's.
Baum's murder was indicative of a disturbing trend.
A National Coalition for the Homeless report says last year, there were 122 attacks and 20 murders against the homeless, the most attacks in nearly a decade. (Coalition report on 2006 homeless attacks)
Police found Baum's body two days after the teens attacked him.
They bragged about it around town. Police picked them up and they described what happened.
Ihrcke told police that killing "the bum" reminded him of playing a violent video game, a police report shows.
All three teens pleaded no contest to first degree reckless homicide charges and went to prison.
Moore recently turned 18 at Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin, where he is serving a 15 year sentence.
"When [the beating] stops, you say, 'What did we just do?'" he told CNN. "There's no rational explanation."
Attacks across the nation
Incidents of teen-on-homeless violence dotted the map last year. Florida racked up at least six such attacks in 2006.
In Lauderhill, four teens were arrested after they allegedly videotaped themselves beating, dragging, and stealing from a homeless man.
On the other side of the nation, former Oregon State University student Joshua Grimes stands accused of shooting and injuring a homeless man from his perch in a fraternity house window.
At least three homeless people in Kalamazoo, Michigan, reported being attacked by teens on bicycles during a 10-day span in October, according to the homeless coalition.
In Huntsville, Alabama, six teens -- one of them 13 -- beat a homeless man with golf clubs, the coalition reported. But perhaps the most shocking of these examples was 2006's first recorded case of teen-on-homeless violence.
On January 12 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a surveillance camera captured two teens beating a homeless man with bats.
Prosecutors say 17-year-old skateboarder Tom Daugherty, 18-year-old Brian Hooks, a popular hockey team captain, and a third unseen teen, Billy Ammons, a high school dropout, assaulted two more homeless men that night.
One of them was 45-year-old Norris Gaynor. A witness, Anthony Clarke, told police and CNN last year that he saw the three teens approach Gaynor as he slept on a park bench. Daugherty began whacking Gaynor with a bat, Clarke said.
As Gaynor lay dying, Ammons shot him with yellow paintballs, later remarking that the beating felt like "teeing off," police said.
Gaynor was beaten so badly his own father didn't recognize him. Facing life in prison, the teens face trial for murder later this year. They have each pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder
In August 2005, Brumfield and William Orantes, both 19, beat 56-year-old Ernest Adams with bats. Adams emerged from a coma three weeks later with dents in his skull, permanent scars and no vision in one eye, the Los Angeles Times reported. Orantes is serving a three-year sentence.

I also hold out that the wii will soon be as awesome, after developers start learning how develop for it, which usually happens about a year after launch (which is what happened with the DS and Xbox 360, who are now awesome becuase great games started coming out)
Castlevania POR is great game by the way, but i am currently getting my ass kicked by the final boss(es?) so lets see if i ever actually beat it.

Hey everyone! Or basically Derek, Eric, and Chad ...
Rob, Dustin, Sarah, and myself went to go sing karaoke on Friday night and man was it great. Believe it or not ... it was the first time i had ever sang Karaoke at a karaoke bar and I was actully a little nervous. But after the first song ... I really started to get into it.
Rob and I had an amazing performence of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" ... it was definately the highlight of the night.
That and the fact that Rob and Sarah were probably the most drunk I've even seen either one of them and it was fantastic. Rob would come out with a loud "I WANT TO SING" just about every minute ... even if he had just gotten done singing. Funny stuff.
The person running the karaoke was pretty damn good and there was this guy named "Lurch" that was hilarious.
Pictures are here ... http://www.flickr.com/photos/20777049@N00/sets/72157594543305613/
Here are some of the songs I sang
Me By myself - Shameless (Garth Brooks) ... The Look (Roxette) ... Inside Out (Eve 6)
Mike and Dustin - Lay your Hands on Me (Bon Jovi) ... Renagade (Styx) ... Wake me Up before you Go-Go (Wham!)
Mike and Rob - Love Of a Lifetime (Firehouse) ... Pour Some Sugar on Me (Def Leppard) ... Regulate (Warren G and Nate Dogg)
Wow ... I sang 9 songs.
Dustin's highlight included a performence of "Friends in Low Places" where two old women got on stage and danced with him. Hahahaha.
Rob and Sarah also sang "Just one of those Days" by limp Biskit which may have been one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.

Ok ... I just wanted to weigh in on a couple of things about this "non-story"
In case you don't know ... John Amaechi recently came out of the closet ... making him the first former NBA player to admit that hes gay.
A few days later ... Tim Hardaway gave an interview where he stated that he hated gay people and would not want a gay teammate.
1 - Anyone who says that Amaechi is brave for doing what he did is dumb. He is not brave. He's long gone from the NBA and in England somewhere for all we care. If he was truely "brave" ... he would have come out while still playing.
2 - Amaechi did not do this because he felt he had to ... he did it for money and fame. Sure ... he didn't get a big advance for his book ... but with the amount of press it's getting right now ... it's going to sell millions of copies. And by the way ... had anyone heard of John Amaechi before this? I rest my case.
3 - Tim Hardaway should be praised for his honesty. Would you rather have an athelete lie about his feelings and give a "cookie-cutter" answer or tell the truth? So he hates gay people ... big deal. He's an asshole ... and he'll be treated as such ... but don't say that he shouldn't have said what he said. I'd rather hear the truth than a sugar coated lie.
That's all I'm going to say on this subject ... because it shouldn't even be a story. I'm pissed that someone's sexual orientation can stop the world from spinning.
NBA ... Tim ... and John ... shut the hell up ... no one cares.
