The November meeting will be at Accomack County Airport, Melfa VA (MFV)

On Sat Nov 13, 2004 starting at 1PM (1300) after the meeting we’ll carpool to the Sunrise Diner.

He will also discuss coordinating the 2005 picnic/Fly-Ins with other events around the state. Going to the various chapter fly-ins is a prime reason for belonging to EAA, USUA, etc. During the summer every weekend is filled with plane activities. We may be able to come up with a workable schedule with your input. Let us know when and where there is a good destination.

Ozzie Hilderson has been taking videos from his Aventura this summer and will show them at the airport if he doesn’t leave for Florida before the meeting. (You know how those “snowbirds” are as soon as it gets cold.)

We do not have a meeting in December so I want to remind you that dues for 2005 are due in January. ($10.00)

The treasury reports a bank balance of $530.40 as of the statement dated Oct 14, 2004

Our hats are off to Gordon Campbell of Campbell Airfield for his inaugural Fly-In in conjunction with our club and The Grumman Tiger Association. The day was beautiful but windy enough to fly the Ultralights on a Kite string. The intrepid team of Preston Smith and Ray Sawyer in their respective planes, gave us an example of a 45� + crab on takeoff from the crosswind runway. (Wind at 20-25KTs) With the tailwind going home, Ray reported doing 90MPH in his CGS Hawk.

With the wind right down the main runway, all the planes made laudable landings and takeoffs even with some turbulence at the tree line. (You don’t usually see good landings when so many are watching!)

George Parkers’ “pizza red” Sia Marchetti wowed us with some “interesting fly-by’s”.

Gordon’s wife, Chris did the honors at the grill, turning out hot dogs, Hamburgers and sausage for the crowd. A table full of side dishes and desserts rounded out the fare.

Gordon was so pleased that he is planning on a bigger and better event next year

Paul Young has a big plastic rooster to show wind direction at his “Bluebird Airpark”

 Dave Lumgair made a trek to Florida and received his IFR ticket as well as Tail Dragger and complex aircraft endorsement. He even found out how to resolve gear up landings.

 Preston made a world speed record engine repair in order to make The Campbell Fly-In, after an engine failure the previous Sat.

 “Willie Nelson” attended the Campbell Fly-In, just ask Ted Smith. Check our website

 Gil Zeltwanger was last seen chasing our club secretary around Campbell field after the self proclaimed “test pilot” shaved a few inches off Gils’ prop while crow hopping his “Raider”   “Maybe I should find another line of work”, the secretary was heard to say as he hid under Gils’ trailer.

 Hats off to Cate Fairchild for bringing a group from the “Delmarva Aviation Association” to Gordon's fly-in.

 Sad to hear that Hudgins field might become a strip mall, even as I write. They are eyeballing West Point as a replacement. (Best of luck to Chptr 6 in their search.)
