“March winds and April showers bring May Flyers”, or that’s how we pilots look at that saying. Hopefully the weather gods will smile upon us for the rest of the summer.

Our May meeting will be at Campbell Field (9VG) where we can see Gordon’s progress on the Airport and Lancair. We will then motor pool to the Captains Deck Restaurant for lunch. Meeting time will be 1300 Sat. May 14. Plan on flying in a little early to get the grand tour from Gordon and Chris.

The April meeting at Accomack turned out a good crowd though it was too windy even for Ray Sawyer to fly in. Intrepid Cate and Andy Fairchild made it in their Cherokee however. Pres. Jim Rank discussed the Sport Pilot rules and announced the availability of a 90-min DVD on the rules and regs of the new option. Vic Loisel offered to make copies for those wishing to play the DVD as it is too long to show at the meeting.  Jim brought up the insurance issue with the new Sport Pilot program. Seems there will be some new issues to deal with in the abysmal world of Liability etc.

There are two inspector designees on the Eastern Shore who can inspect the new planes instead of waiting interminably for the FAA examiners. Their names are Jack Mcarthy and Bill Mesaro. Their fees run around $200.00 but can be a bargain for those not wishing to wait for “Big Brother”.

Cate Fairchild reported that the Young Eagles program will go off on the original planned date of May 21 even though it conflicts with the Horn point Fly-in 

Paul Young reported that his pilots lounge at Bluebird Airpark is progressing and will undoubtedly be ready for his fly-In in June. Barn raising parties are being planned.

After the meeting we all drove to the Sunrise Diner for a hearty lunch and much animated socializing.

On the Airplane scene we have John Dougherty baseing his Kolb at Campbell after a hiatus of five years in his garage.

Bill Porter should have his CSHawk ready to fly soon, after a complete recovering.

Ozzie has trailered his Aventura back from Florida and is ready for another season with his new digital camera. We should see some great pics of the area activities.

Vic Loisel is anxiously awaiting shipment of Lotus floats for his Kitfox so he can fly from his home at Hacks Neck.

Paul Young has set out to beat the Chinese record for the most wall built in one day using forced labor to construct the pilots lounge. 

Paul was also cited by the Carpenter’s Union for over feeding his captive laborers.

 Vic Loisel has been overheard humming sea chanties in preparation for seaplane adventures.

 Dave Lumgair and Gordon Campbell have found, you CAN fly cross country with no alternator. (VA to FL)

 Gordon and Chris Campbell are becoming the latest “Come Here’s” moving permanently to the Eastern Shore.

 Crisfield may be changing the Wings and Wheels Fly-In to the Kite and Boat –In.

 There are some folks from the “Capital” (Wash. DC ) who are interested in attending some of our Fly-In/picnics. No, thankfully they are not from The FAA

 Hudgins Field (USUAAClub 6) may have a temporary reprieve, thanks for once to zoning complications
