“AHH” summer and the fly-Ins/fly-Outs abound!
Our June meeting at Crisfield was a well attended, beautiful day. Too
bad the Original Crisfield Fly-In had been canceled. We had quite a few Guests who
probably thought ours was the original planned festivities. “All the better!”
Vince Jordan and all those bringing picnic stuff outdid themselves as usual and we all met
& made new friends. Among them were Catherine and Andy Fairchild who have formed the
Delmarva Aviation Association at Salisbury Airport (SBY). They announced a Fly-In at Salisbury
in September. For more info their e-address is [email protected] They will keep us posted.
We were fortunate to welcome a new member at the meeting, Andy
Serrell. He lives at 8 Portage Court, Berlin Md 21811 Phone 410 641 8009. Please put him
on your membership list. He is President of the Ocean City Aviation Association and a long
time pilot. He is a retired Navy pilot and still is active, holding a CFI rating. He spoke
of The upcoming Ocean City Fly-In Oct 9 –10, 2004 At (OXB). This will be a big one
with Warbirds, Experimenals, Classics etc., in effect a Mini Oshkosh. I for one am
planning on flying my Fisher there and camping if allowed. Any other Volunteers?
The July meeting will be at Paul Youngs’ farm,(officially
Bluebird Airpark), on July 10 2004 starting at 1 PM. Chart coordinates-37d,48.073’ N,
75d,39.496’ W.
1736 Big Rd, Bloxom VA 757-665-4424. Field is 1100ft grass, running
next to chicken coops. He puts on a real old time roast with beef, pork sausage etc. His
wife, Chris, will provide potatoe salad, deviled eggs, baked beans and soda. Other
delicacies, cakes, snacks, etc. that anyone
wishes to bring, would be welcomed by all. If you are
unable to get into a short field, we can arrange to pick you up at Accomack Airport
or if possible a private 2500ft strip nearby.

I have talked with Gordon Campbell of Campbell Airfield about A
meeting / Fly-In at his field October 16th 2004. Weather should still be good
and there is lots of room for most GA aircraft. He is busy at work on his Lancair which
should be well along by October. Come in and see his progress.
- RUMORS -
Vic Loisel, when not flying his Kitfox, has been doing some articles
in the DELMARVA QUARTERLY. His latest is about our own Sid Adams who flies the VA Marine
Police (VMRC) 182 over the Eastern Shore. Vic has found a way to mix his love of flying
with his writing skills and wrote about a guy who has done the same..
Jim Rank has installed his up graded Landing gear and hopes to be in
the air soon. He plans to take some transitional flying instruction along with some other
members. Paul Young is organizing a group instruction
at his field with several other members. More at the July meeting.
I have installed an IVOPROP on my Fisher 505 with great
results. The little 28hp Rotax now gives me a better climb, less vibration and a little
better speed. I’m still playing with various pitches, searching for the ideal
compromise.
I found a great web site for those holding FAA Pilot
certificates. You can order the new plastic pilot certificate on line. If yours is old and
dog-eared like mine, this is for you.

work go to FAA Civilian Registry, to the order dept where for two bucks, they will send
you a new fancy plastic certificate complete with Orville and Wilbur Wright’s
pictures. NEAT!
