January 2006

Now that visions of Piper’s and Cessna’s under the tree have not materialized, its time for a reality check.  I trust everyone had a wonderful holiday season.

Our January meeting will be held at Don’s Seafood Restaurant, Rt. 13 Pokomoke Sat, Jan 14 2006.  Don’s seems to be a popular spot as it is centrally located for all members.

Meeting as usual will be at 1300 with many coming in a little early. After a Dutch treat lunch we will entertain last minute nominations for officers and elect our slate for 2006.

It is time to start putting together a schedule of activities for the New Year so now is the time to make your suggestions. Anyone wanting to host a meeting or activity is free to speak up and coordinate dates. If there is enough input I will publish a schedule in Feb.

I wish to Thank Cate Fairchild and DAA for hosting a delightful “Wright Bros. Celebration of Flight”dinner this past Dec 17th.  Everyone who attended had a marvelous meal and fellowship, for those of you who missed it, Better Luck next year!

Gordon Campbell has had great luck with the weather for his “Soup on Sunday” fly-in’s. He only missed one week since Dec 12 and that’s cause Santa caused the airport to close Dec 25th for runway cleanup? (Those pooper-scooper laws are tough on reindeer drivers).

New Years Day however saw over 20 planes that flew in to start the year off right. It’s nice to see others who start off the year without a hangover. He will be doing the Sundays through March, weather permitting. Check out his neat website for details and menu. He also has installed a sophisticated weather station. Click on it to receive up to the minute reports from downtown Wierwood and around the peninsula. www.campbellfieldairport.com

A reminder that $10.00 dues are due and will be graciously accepted by Jim Rank or me at the meeting or you can mail to the club address.

There are no RUMORS this month as my prying eyes and ears have been on vacation for the holiday season. Don’t let down your guard however cause “ I”LL BE BAAACK”.
