Winter is about half over so its time to start thinking of flying
activities again. Come out to Crisfield Airfield this Sat Feb.12th to enjoy
some hangar flying and planning for the year’s activities. We will meet 1:00 PM at
the Airport then carpool to town for some famous Crisfield crabcakes or your favorite
lunch.
The January meeting at
Dons Restaraunt turned out thirty hardy souls who braved the cold for our first meeting of
the year. Pres. Jim Rank handed out embroidered caps to the Club officers and Webmaster in
appreciation of the year’s work. Our club now numbers 36 with the addition of Charles
Collier, who signed up at the meeting. Welcome Charles, (can we call ya’ Charlie?) Just a reminder that dues are due and payable now.
Any member who signed on after August 2004 is paid up for 2005. Members not registered for
2005 will be dropped from the rolls after the April newsletter. We have lots of neat
Activities planned for this year and surely want your support and
company.
Cate Fairchild, Pres. of Delmarva Aviation Association has
reported her group’s plans for a Young Eagle’s day in May. The presence of our
type of planes would be a welcome addition to the days’ activities. Those with
multiple seats can participate in the air rides for the youngsters if able. Jim Rank has
also suggested a similar program to be held possibly at Accomack Airport some time this
year.
Paul Young has been busy making improvements to his BLUEBIRD AIRPARK.
A good old-fashioned “Barn Raising” is planned in the near future for his Pilot
lounge/ operations Bldg. Be prepared to heft a hammer or give conflicting instructions to
the worker bees. It will be a great day as you
all know from Paul’s past gatherings.
The Ultralight Seminar at Richmond Air Museum will be held Sat
March 12th. Some of us will be driving over. Contact me if you are interested
in attending. We have been well represented in the past and have had extraordinary luck
with door prizes. Let’s keep up the tradition. We could possibly pick the fly-in
folks at the Gen. Aviation terminal if there is no other means to get to Museum. Departure
by car must leave the Exmore area by 6:00- 6:30 AM.
Ray Sawyer has sent me an article he wrote on Airport
comunication procedures. I will have copies at the meeting and hope to get it in next
month’s newsletter. Read it! Even when you think you know it all, there will be some
good reminders for your weary brain.

Paul Young is recovering from a sinus operation. Chris can’t
wait to get him out of the house!
Gordon Campbell has been busy clearing brush from runway sides
at Campbell field(9VG)
Gordon was in attendance at the latest Lancair seminar and has
been re-inspired to continue on his project, GO GORDON!
Dave Lumgair has given me the GPS coordinates of LUMGAIR INT.
for those having difficulty reading charts. (In fairness, he’s hard to find)

Dave reports that the field will be more accessible and identifiable
when the grass starts growing.

Titan He might need to borrow a trailer if successful in his search.
