Our November meeting was held at Accomack County Airport (MFV) after which we retired to the Sunrise Diner for lunch and “bull session”

We welcomed one new member,Charles Stehl and several guests, namely Steve and Joshua Walton, Ken Lennox, Mike Gray and Dave Easmont.

President Jim Rank gave a summary of our club activities and objectives.

Paul Young announced that club patches could be ordered for $1.92 in 100 lots.  A motion was passed to order 100.

Cate Fairchild announced that the Delmarva Aircraft Assoc. is making plans to attend Oshkosh 2005. Anyone interested in getting good group housing rates contact her ASAP 410-957-1657.

Cate also invited us to her next Association meeting, which was held Dec 2nd. In Salisbury.(Three of us attended, Thanks Cate).

REMINDER; Membership fees are due, $10.00 (newly paid members are exempt).

                        We need your EAA # recorded for submission to EAA, (don’t ask me

                         Why, Headquarters requires club members to also be national members?)

                        Please submit your E-mail address if you have one that’s not already 

                        Recorded. I’m trying to keep costs down.

Election of new officers will be on the slate so submit and vote for your choice. 

There has been a conflict as to our logo and web site address. EAA headquarters has advised us that because there is a regular EAA Chapter that preceded us we should be using the EAA108UL designation on our website and future logos etc. There is no real difference as to chapter status except for the confusion of duplicate numbers. Evidently the other Ultralight Chapters have been instructed to use the UL designation also.

 We have always advertised as an Ultralight club but that doesn’t exclude any other type or interest. EAA was formed as a forum to exchange ideas and solutions for all aspects of aviation. If there are any members who feel that we should change our designation to a regular EAA group, please make your feelings known at our meeting Jan 15^th. If we decide to change, a new number will be assigned (presently in the 1400’s) after we go through the paper work involved with them and IRS.  The down side is that we would lose our identity, locally known as Chptr 108. If a member wishes to be associated with a regular Chapter, there are three nearby in VA and two in Delaware and Maryland. One can belong to more than one chapter if he/she desires. Enough said. Please get out Jan 15^th and voice your opinion and vote for your preference.

                                                            RUMORS

‘Twas the week before Christmas and all around the Shore,

Most ultralighters were bedding down their birds, which is really a chore.

With chocks on the wheels and ties on the wings,

Their thoughts turned to maintenance and installing new things.

They squirted preservation oil all around there and here,

And looked forward to flying again early next year.

When looking out of the hangar what did appear,

But a weird looking craft powered by reindeer.

It was flying low over homes dropping packages and stuff,

You could hear his engines going “huff-huff-huff-huff.”

As he climbed out over the bay and flew out of sight

We all shouted, “you go guy, have a good flight!”

With those words of wisdom, we close out the year 2004 with a “well done”. Lots of neat stuff occurred this past year for us all to reflect on.
