April 2004

Our March meeting was held at Crisfield Airport, Jim Rank presiding

Jim reported on the informal gathering at his house. Present were Jim, Gil Z., Doc., Vic L., and Dave L., Ray G.

The discussion centered on a slate of officers for 2004. Also several Ideas were presented for activities and  fly ins. Dave Lumgair volunteered to develop a club web site with Vic Loisel lending a hand. I expressed a desire to include E-mail addresses on the membership list.

Our slate of officers, namely, Jim Rank (pres.), Paul Young (V.Pres), Jim, acting treasurer, ( no one accepted), Ray Gefken. (Secretary), Ray Sawyer, (Safety Officer), were duly elected with a show of hands.

There was a discussion on patches for hats and shirts with our logo and club name. Roger Riggen has been developing a sample and several other  makers are under consideration.

Jim reported  $428.00 + in the bank. EAA insurance ($140.00) and Corp fees ($25.00) are due and will be paid forthwith.

Maxwell, our host, presented a petition he and the airport tenants are circulating. Seems the town of Crisfield is vowing to shut down the grass runway and limiting services. I am including one with this mailing for you to fill out and send to the Airport to be forwarded.

Gordon Campbell, the new owner of Kellam Field in Nassawadox VA (Now Campbell field) has been planning on renewing activity at the airport with a 500 gal auto fuel  and 4000 gal Av. fuel tank in the works. He would like to have a fly/in this year. We members from the local area are willing to lend a hand. Anyone with suggestions or contacts let  me know(Ray Gefken). I am staying in contact with Gordon.

There is an issue with new power lines near the end of runway 21 At Campbell field. Paul Young recommended writing a petition to A&N Electric about moving them.

Our Safety Officer, Ray Sawyer, Got off to a fast start with a safety bulletin  he wrote and recommends using at uncontrolled airports. See included paper. He is usually available to answer any aviation questions, drawing from his years of experience.

Finally, I am updating the Membership list, which will be mailed out  with the next newsletter. If you want your e-mail address on the list, please E-mail it to me [email protected]  so I can include it. Also let me know if you would like the newsletter sent Via E rather than Snailmail. It could cut down our mailing and paper expense. For those without Computers, we will still be mailing.

Meeting was Adjourned and many of us enjoyed lunch in Crisfield.
