September means more pleasant flying conditions, Clearer air, cooler temps, yet long daylight hours remaining.
Ray Sawyer has wisely moved his picnic to September 10th to take advantage of the fine early fall weather. I have flown into his field in the last few days and can report the field in excellent shape and Ray, with the help of Paul Young and Jeanette Smolinski rendering assistance, are busy setting up the hangar for the event.
Planes and people will start drifting in around
As usual any special dish or goodies you would like to bring will be eagerly shared with the “chow hounds” among us.
Planes unable to handle the 1600 ft. runway can land at nearby boomers field. One of us can pick you up.

A reminder that the Ninth Annual VA Regional EAA Fly-In is slated for Oct 1 & 2.
I plan on flying over on Fri Sep30 to help with setup and to claim a good spot to camp under my wing. I have found, by experience, the best way to see the aircraft coming to the event is to volunteer for the parking or flight line. Not only are you helping out but also have the satisfaction of other members’ appreciation.

October 8th and 9th is the Ocean City MD Fly-In. Another signature event with several warbirds on display. Last year this event drew several hundred local residents to oggle the aircraft. (a well run event)
Closer to home will be Gordon Campbell’s two day Fly-In at
See enclosed flyer. He is planning on antique, hotrod auto displays, model aircraft demo’s and lots of other events. Dave Lungair will organize a Young Eagle’s airlift if some members can volunteer to do ferry service. Other volunteers are needed to help make this event a popular local attraction, now and in the future. His field has the uniqueness to be a popular “Down Home” grassroots attraction that is not too numerous
Here on the East Coast anymore.

Dave Easmunt is the proud new owner of a Cherokee 140. ( Is that an Ultralight Dave?)
Gordon Campbell has defied the DDUA (Ditch Diggers Union of America), by hiring me and Tommy to install a drain across his runway.
Gil Zeltwanger has been nominated “Mr. Electricity” after lightning struck his house for the second time in two years. Maybe he sits on top of an iron ore deposit??
Dave Lumgair is having second thoughts on owning certified GA aircraft. He has found that “paperwork” has added to wing loading of his 150.
Vince Jordan has been nominated to “The Grill Chefs’” hall of fame.
Gordon Campbell has promised all volunteers at his Fly-In will be
awarded an autographed citation from a Top FAA, or Homeland Security official for

Last but not least, Paul Young has asked to have the November meeting at his Bluebird Airpark. This will be an opportunity to enjoy the new pilot’s lounge and meeting place.
