First Annual Alumni Dinner
On the evening of Friday, June 27, 2003, the first annual Alumni Dinner for the Milford Christian Academy Alumni Association was held at the Montgomery Inn Conference Center in Cincinnati (not to be confused with the Montgomery Inn Boathouse, which is NOT at the same location, but a half mile further up the road, as we discovered after paying for valet parking at the Boathouse... but I digress).

I was blessed to have attended because the tickets were not inexpensive, and someone was kind enough to allow the singles to purchase tickets at half price, and then beyond that, some wonderful anonymous person bought my ticket, for which I am extremely grateful.

I am not sure about statistics, but to the best of my estimation, there were perhaps 80 people in attendance, including Pastor William Duttry, Mrs. Rosemarie Daniel, Mr. Randy Daniel and our keynote speaker, Mr. James Aenis, and his wife, Mrs. Josie Aenis.  I cannot say for certain, but I believe there was at least one representative for each graduating class with the exception of the first graduating class, the class of 1977.

Several people made the trip in from out of town to attend, the furthest being Mrs.Theresa Bauer Fickes, who flew in from Valdez, Alaska.  I'm sure I will leave people out, so this list will not be exhaustive by any means, but I will mention that from my own class (1982), Mrs. Sharon King Wilson and her husband, former teacher and First Baptist youth pastor, Rev. Greg Wilson ("Rev") came in from (near) Hershey, Pennsylvania, where Greg is now pastoring.  Also, another dear friend, who I had not seen in 21 years, Mrs. Kim Ferrell Taylor came in from her home in Montpeilier, Virginia (...or was that her villa in Mexico?).  Kim, besides being a mother of three, is now a very successful business woman, owning her own court reporting agency in Washington, DC, with a staff of 28 reporters working full time.

Others who made the trip in from out of town included Melissa Scalf (sorry, I don't know her married name or where she was coming from), Kim Ford Sexton and Jerry Sexton (Corydon, Indiana), and Melody Demarest Carney (Chattanooga, TN)... again, I'm sure there were others whose names just now escape me.

Mr. Tom Alford (class of 1980), who now has five children of his own enrolled in MCA, and himself is a coach at the school, is president of the Milford Christian Academy Alumni Association.  I have requested that he allow me to do some work for the association.  As I become more familiar with what is happening within the association, I will try to post and update as much information as possible on this site in the future.

PHOTOS:
I took several photos of the occasion, however, my (stupid) scanner is not currently working (urrrghhhhhh....).  As soon as I can replace the (stupid) cord (urrrghhhhh....), I will post my photos of the evening.

I would say, by the look of things, a very good time was had by all!  The one thing that amazed me the most though, was the way the everyone * else
* seemed to have aged.

...More Information on "The Event" to come...

There are clocks to tell the time of day
And scales to measure the weight of hay
But sir, what tool would you employ
To weigh the worth of a girl of boy?
