File-sharing versus the economy (2)
Another clear example of peer to peer file-sharing increasing sales can be portrayed with the author Mercedes Lackey. Lackey's "Arrow" books were published fifteen years ago. The books had a stable sale record and they have been in consistent print since they were published. Lackey always received a royatly check every pay-period until one pay-period the sales tripled in volume. The only thing that changed during this pay-period was one of Lackey's publishers allowed an online book library to post one of her books to be freely read by the public. The public would read Lackey's book, and if people enjoyed her writing, they
would refer to her list of her other publications listed at the end of the book. This was proved by the increase of sales in all of Lackey's publishers, not only the publisher that poster the online book. Unlike the majority of officials in the recording industry, Lackey now realized that free publicity increases sales of her work and uncovers her talent as a writier to a wide array of people. The public was open to her publication and they could now admire Lackey's skill.
Not only have there been personal experiences proving the benefits of file-sharing, but there have recently been studies that prove file sharing programs are innocent of crimes. Continue for a study conducted by the Harvard Business School.
