If you liked all the series of Escaflowne you will like the movie! The story is close of the serie story but not the same!! .The characters designs change a lot ! the characters look more older (my personal view) Van is still cute hehe . I have the movie and i will try to tell the story.. but maybe i'm wrong on certain point..
A prophecy tells that the Tsubasa no kami (godess of wing) will come on Gaea to awake the great white dragon , but depending on the feelings of the Godess of wing, it will plunge Gaea into Chaos or into a peace world.

Short synopsis: When Van and Folken birth, it's Van that have been choosen to become the futur king. But Folken didn't take it and burn all his country and create an army to take control of Gaea. Hitomi , who feel tired of her life, is suddenly transported to Gaea. Allen and his gang will take her with them because they think that she could be the Godess of wing. Allen will also ask to Van to protect Hitomi, because they know that the black dragon Clan will try to get her. ... Hitomi will have to choose what she want: listen to Van and make escaflowne save Gaea or listen to Folken and destroy Gaea.. While Van loose control of escaflowne, Hitomi travels into his mind and tell him that she is with him and that he is no longer alone. Van return to himself and it calm escaflowne, who takes the dragon form. Van and Hitomi fly to the Black dragon clan forteress to kill Folken..but Jajuka kill him before Van! After that peace return on Gaea , Hitomi and Van are standing in front of a sunset ...Hitomi ear the song that called her to Gaea, then white wings appear to her and then she disapear and the credits start!
