I am very proud of my ancestors and the roll they have played in our nations history and military so i would like to share what i know with you.
John Carden, ( my gg-grandfather), is shown in the Roster of the Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865, Vol. II , Lillian Henderson. It shows he entered service April 1, 1862, as a private, captured at Gettysburg, Pa. , Jul. 2, 1863, paroled at Point Lookout , Md. Fed. 18, 1865. Exchanged at James River, Va. Fed. 21, 1865.
This was one of the worse, it's said that at times the guards were paid to kill the prisoners
