Answer the following questions on a piece of lined paper using the interactive diagram below.


Question #6: Drag around the point P. Do the line segments from point P to the sides of the angle EFG move also? Does this remind you of anything you have seen recently?


Question #7: Drag around the points E, F and G. Does point P move at the same time?


Question #8: Now, watch the measurements displayed in the diagram as you move the points around. The distance from the point P to each side of the angle EFG represented by line segments NP and MP, and the measure of the whole angle EFG and each part of the angle as split by the ray FP. Keeping in mind that you may not be able to get the measurements exact, under what circumstances can you make the ray FP bisect the angle EFG? That is, if angles EFP and PFG are equal what must be true about the distance from P to each side of the outer angle?


Question #9: Try to make the length of NP equal to MP without making angle EFP equal to PFG. Can you do it? Remember to round to the nearest tenth of the measurements before comparing (14.49 is the same as 14.50 for our purposes).


Question #10: Based on todays lecture and your experiments thus far, complete the following sentence:

If a point is on the bisector of an angle, then it is ______________  from the two sides of the angle.
