To all year 12s,

It saddens me to have to write such a letter.

However, it seems that despite many pleas from me and other staff members, some of you have decided that you do not need to heed the advice and rules that we put in place for the welfare and protection of all members of our college.

I refer to one verse of scripture that is quoted here from three versions of Scripture. I pray that the Spirit will encourage you to see how it impacts on you in what we desire as a Christian College.

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law. (NIV)

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish,‑ but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]‑‑blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he. (AMP)

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. (KJV)

We are therefore going to put some restraints in place for you. In one sense if you are the ones who "have the vision" for our college and are happy with who you are and you are the keepers of the "law", then you will not be greatly affected by the restraints.

If it is reported to me by any staff member that you have failed to heed any of these restraints, then I put you on notice that you will be suspended for a period of three days.

This penalty is not open for argument, nor is it open to negotiation. Neither are these restraints open to interpretation. You have had the warnings and advice about all this before, now is the time for conformity.

Do not interrupt in class. There are appropriate ways to conduct yourself in a group situation.

Do not waste your study periods. They are given to you for study not for free time.

Do not leave the school grounds without the proper authority. You sign in when you arrive after 9:00 am and you sign     out when you leave (if before the end of a school day). You come once and leave once. You do not come and go at will. If you need to leave the campus for any other reason you must see me with your diary.

Do not wander around the school grounds during lesson time. On the reverse side of this letter is a room (with a small class) in which you can study with supervision. The library is also available.

Do not make any excessive noise during lesson time. Be mindful of other students, to whom you are setting a standard of acceptable behaviour.

Do not ride in anyone else's car. Check the agreement you signed to allow you access to our grounds with your car.

Have a good positive work ethic. This means being co‑operative and giving your best effort every minute you are on campus. (Proverbs 18:9*)

Keep your room (C3) neat and tidy. It will be locked during recess and lunch breaks.

Respect all staff at all times. We have a grievance policy if you think you have been mistreated.

Do not ignore deadlines. Our policy is very clear. If it is late then it is zero.

Do not bring any take‑away food onto the campus. If you arrive for lessons around lunch time, then eat your take‑away food before you come on the property.

Do not alter or add to any school property. Consult with me only if you wish to add "things" to our property as your legacy. Any additions made outside of this will be dismantled.

Respect all school property. If anything is accidentally broken then please report it to the appropriate person.

My deepest desire is for you to succeed and to remember your days at SVCC with delight. However, these expectations must be met to ensure this.

With Christian Love

These are "Spare" rooms in which you may study. They are spare in the sense that a teacher has a small class in the room at the same time. This now gives you three options while you are on campus: The library, Room C3 (if it is not used for teaching) and this spare room.

Be aware that you are a guest in another class. You must remain silent all the time and expect some interaction between the teacher and the class.
