The first show tonight was a mild disaster.  It was full of mistakes.  Everyone seemed happy, though.  I suppose the fact that it was pulled off at all was a success.

First of all, the girl playing Melot completely forgot the third verse to her song.  Then, C.A. almost forgot the vamp for the scene change.  Ragnall's diction was atrocious.  The people in the sound/lighting booth did not turn off the background music they played during intermission until partway through the first scene of the second act.  "For Courtesy's Sake" has yet to be sung correctly.  Sir Bedivere came in early for "The Lesson."  During Act II, scene 7, one of the swords broke.  Act II, scene 8 was a total disaster; one of the actors forgot that he even had a song.

The audience responded well, however.

I lost my temper before the show today.  People are no longer putting props on the piano.

Ya know what?  The show didn't turn out half bad.  It was actually quite entertaining.  I mean, it was excellent for the type of group doing it and it was great cause you know everyone had such a great time doing it.

Heheh, I guess they'd been having trouble with people putting props on the mucho-dinero grand piano backstage.  I was out in the hallway and I heard Heero lose his temper before the show today.  I have a feeling that people will be wise enough to refrain from placing props on the piano from now on.  You can always count on Heero...

Everyone was all buddy-buddy and hugs after the show today.  That's great, ya know?  That's when you have a real group.  Sorta reminds me of us five.  When we're together, we're like family.  It's all nice while it lasts.  I mean, it would all be peachy if we all stayed together, but the chances of that are slim.  I'm not naive.  People come, people go- no matter how much you want them to, they rarely stay for long.  That's just life.

Still...  It's nice while we're together.  I hope that it lasts for a while.

Heero lost his temper today.  I have a feeling that there will be no more props placed on the piano.

Quatre is very happy concerning the show.  It helps take his mind of his worries, I think.

Dear Journal,

We did it!  We pulled it off!  The show was great!  There were a few hairy spots, but the important part is that everyone kept on going and had great energy throughout the entire thing.  The audience helped a lot, too.  It was very responsive and sent a lot of good vibes.  I watched from the back so that I could take notes without disturbing anyone.  I'll have C.A. e-mail them out tomorrow.

I feel sort of sorry for some of the castmembers.  You do not want to be at the receiving end when Heero loses his temper.  You see, the college has this really beautiful grand piano backstage, but people were putting props on it, despite being told not to.  I guess they sort of deserved it, but...  I still feel sorry for them.  I went and apologized to them for Heero afterward.

One thing, though.  I highly doubt that we'll be seeing anymore props on the piano.

The feeling after the show was so uplifting!  Everyone was totally thrilled.  It was all hugs, congratulations, etc..  It was wonderful!  I love it when people come together like that.

Oh, and another thing.  The swords that Duo had last night were actually the practice swords from the show.  I made him give them back today.

I'm exhausted.  I think that the high from the show is beginning to wear off.

Dear Journal,

The show was actually pleasant.  I like Arthurian legend, so it was interesting.  It was nice having a now not concentrating on the Arthur/Guenivere/Lancelot fiasco.  True, Gareth was an idiot, but I could understand how he wished to prove himself.  The lyrics to two of the songs ("Playing Games" and "The Lesson") were very well written and struck home.  Meiran always said that I took these things too seriously.  I disagree.

"Playing Games" was about wondering if one's life has meaning, questioning the truth of honor, and trying to determine whether one is doing the right thing.  "The Lesson" is about the harsh truth of knighthood, of all fighting.  Not enough people know the truth.  If people weren't so ignorant, they would never be so foolish as to want a war or support OZ.  To fight in a war, one must either be ignorant of the truth or cover the truth in some façade convincing one that what they're doing is right.

Another plus...  Once this show is over, perhaps C.A. will cease babbling about it 24/7.  If she doesn't, we may have to force her to stop.

All right, so maybe heads did roll, but it wasn't my fault.  I got back in time for the show and was happy.  ::sigh::  My little girl makes me so proud!  ::wipes away a tear::

Okay.  Enough sap.  I have to disappear again.  Ta-ta.

WE DID IT!  THE SHOW TOTALLY ROCKED! AAAAAAAH!

(Perhaps I should stop using all capitals... yes, methinks so.)

There were a few quirky parts (Quatre has a bunch of notes for me to e-mail out as well), but we survived.  Our audience was great!  I swear, we had about 80 people there!  What an improvement: performing in a real auditorium before an audience of 80 vs. performing in a park (built on top of a landfill, next to an atomic power lab, complete with a toxic pond with mutant fish) and having our set blow away before and audience of 4.  How we've come up in the world in only two years!

Heero lost his temper today.  Heehee!  Call me a psycho, but I thought it was funny.  It was concerning the props on the piano issue.

Oh, and guess who was in our audience?  Benita Zahn!  Maybe she'll mention us on the news.  We can only hope!

Man... We really did a hell of a job.
