~The First Prophecy~
He knew that the blast was coming. He always knew. It was the
same way every time. He raced over, the blood pounding in his head,
nearly blinded by the glowing redness. He could get there. He
knew it. He could get there.
It was amazing that even though he was running like a madman, his feet beating upon the floor more loudly than a drum, no one seemed to take any notice. Not even her.
He heard the blast.
His body suddenly grew heavier. Why could he not move? It was like trying to run through water, the harder he tried, the slower he was. Straining every muscle, he reached for her. All he had to do was grab onto her sleeve. His fingers came so close to the pink linen of her jacket ,he could almost feel it.
She turned her head and looked at him. As he stared into her cornflower blue eyes, he could feel her talking to him. Prophet, her eyes said, Await the coming of a new era.
The scene exploded into red.
Heero Yuy awoke with a start. Quickly, he took stock of his situation. He was sitting on his bed with a book in his lap. Obviously he'd dozed off while reading. He was drenched with cold sweat. His hands were trembling. Her voice echoed throughout his consciousness. Shaking, he slowly buried his face in his hands.
"I failed."
