My Sophomore Year Reflection

Well, my sophomore year at Eastlake high school was not as good as I thought it could have been. This year, I think I did too much for what I could handle. For my sophomore year, I was enrolled into Honors Chemistry, Pre-AP English, and AP European history. These classes really challenged me and also made me struggle. This year I really messed up my grades with barely any A's and failing the first semester of Mrs. Lazano's Honors Chemistry
I tried switching out of Honors Chemistry while i still had a B- because I knew it was too hard for me and my grade in that class would only get worse. But the counselors said it was too late for me to switch out at that time. I finally got out of Honors Chemistry at for the next semester, but I ended the last semester with an F. The next semester in Mr. Raley's regular chemistry class. I was able to understand the material more and get better scores on quizzes and packets.
Another challenging class was my AP European History class. It was very hard to keep up and and understand the material because most of the learning was on your own. I never did well on a chapter test or essay test. When it was time for the AP Euro test I studied my hardest and tried my best to stay focused. After the studying I felt that I knew a lot but when I took the test, everything seemed different. After the test, I had and still have a feeling that I did not pass the test.
My high points were in Intermediate Algebra and Filipino 3-4. I kept good grades in those classes and it made me feel better that I wasn't failing every single class I had. This year, I found out that math is one of my strengths. On most of my tests taken in Intermediate Algebra, I received an A or B. Filipino 3-4 was good this year because, I am now able to write more and speak in the Filipino language. Also, I am able to do those with a expanded vocabulary.
This year in Center Stage was very fun just like last year. It is really good to be part of that group because your with your friends and make new friends every year. We did not place as high this year but we felt very proud that we were able to stay strong after our choreographer left. At the end we placed second at the Ramona competition, fourth at the Tournament of Champions, and first at the Disneyland Music in the Parks competition.
This year was one of the hardest and most challenging year I have faced. It had its ups and downs and I would like to thank my friends for keeping me together. I know that I have tried my best and that is all I could do. Next year, I hope I will do much better in all my classes. I will work harder and keep doing my best in everything I do.
