A tribute to the "silent killer" (most do not even know they are infected because they feel fine):
Did you know...as many as one in ten Asian and Pacific Islander Americans have chronic hepatitis B?  And one in four chronic hepatitis B carriers will eventually die of liver cancer or liver failure.  The incidence of hepatitis in the U.S. is 0.3%, but APIs make up over half of the cases (=1.3-1.5 mil people).  Depending on the country of origin, 5-15% of API immigrants are hepatitis B carriers.  To find out more visit the
The Asian Liver Center @ Stanford University and join the Jade Ribbon Campaign by telling those at risk to get screened.

When looking for the beans that are highest in antioxidants, the darker the better.  Beans are a good source of antioxidant nutrition, with black beans packing the most antioxidant nutrition of all varieties. Darker seed coats appear to offer the most antioxidants in general, with red and brown beans taking the antioxidant lead after black beans.  -RealAge I like black beans from Baja Fresh. =)

America is getting fat.  And just getting fatter.  Please attempt to exercise once in awhile.  Or you can choose to be my *exercise superstar* and exercise at least three times a week and at least 30 minutes at a time.

"If you're searching out the pepper with the most vitamin C, head toward the red hues.
Sweet red and yellow bell peppers contain almost twice as much vitamin C as green bell peppers. An ample supply of vitamin C in the diet has been credited with reducing the risk of stroke, one of the most common causes of death and disability in the United States." - RealAge
Just FYI: Stroke is the #3 killer for both API men & women
