Mrs. Aten’s Second Grade News
September 10, 2007

We’ve had a great first two weeks of school!  I’ll be sending home a newsletter every two weeks with reminders, updates, and a basic outline of what we will be working on in class.  Please check out our class webpage as well.  There’s lots of helpful information that is regularly updated!

Homework

The reading log should be signed every Monday through Thursday.  On a normal school week, the reading schedule is as follows:
Monday:  story from big red book

Tuesday/Wednesday: leveled book/AR book
Thursday:  story from big red book

Math homework will be every Monday through Thursday night in Excel Math.  We will start tonight with a completed math sheet and informational parent letter that needs to be signed and returned tomorrow.

Spelling words need to be practiced each night in order to master them.

Friday is test day.  Students will have tests in math, phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and spelling.

Reminders

*Be sure to send your child’s lunch money in an envelope with his/her name and lunch number on the front.

*Please send in money for your child’s t-shirt ($6.00) and “Time for Kids” ($4.30) if you haven’t already.

*Coupon books were sent home on Friday.  This is a great WTPS fundraiser to help out our school.  I hope you’re having luck selling lots of these popular books!  Please collect money as you sell them, and turn in your orders and money on one of our two Friday turn-in dates: September 14th or September 21st.

*Scholastic book orders are due tomorrow (September 11th).
