We had a great field trip to the Catawba Science Center on Thursday!  I think the kids really had a good time while learning a lot!  They did a pretty good job of listening and following instructions while we were there.  Thank you!

Homework Reminders

*Practice spelling words & math basic facts at home each night!

Bat Project

How are those bat projects coming along?!  I know the students have been excited as we’ve learned about bats.  They will be presenting their projects on Halloween (Wed., Oct. 31st).  It should be a great day!

 

 

What are we working on over the next two weeks?
Math:  Word problems, Quarterly Assessment, Excel Math
Reading:  Story this week: “Hedgehog Bakes a Cake”
               Story next week: “Lemonade for Sale”
Spelling:  This week: R-controlled vowel (/or/, -our-)

               Next week: words with –ar, -arm, and –ark

Writing: Narrative Writing Diamond; Great Beginnings  

              using TADS (thought, action, dialogue, sounds) 
Science:  Bat unit

Parent Conferences

The end of the first grading period is here!  There is no school for students on Monday, Oct. 29th as we prepare students’ report cards.  We will have parent conferences on Tuesday the 30th and Thursday the 1st from 3:15—7:30.  I would like to meet with all of you to touch base on how your child is doing, and also to hear your comments or concerns.   Please return the attached paper tomorrow regarding scheduling a time to meet with us for Tuesday or Thursday.
