               Mrs. Aten’s Maternity Leave

As you probably already know, I am expecting my first child on February 11th. The baby will decide what day for sure to arrive.  With that in mind, I want to let you all know my plans now, in case the baby comes early.  I will continue to teach until the arrival, but once he/she does, I will be taking the remainder of this school year off to be with my baby.
I have greatly enjoyed working with the students this year, but I am very grateful that I will be able to spend the first six month’s of my baby’s life devoted to him/her.
In my absence, Gail Parks will be teaching the class. I am very excited about Mrs. Parks coming. She is a well-experienced, retired, lower-grade Wittenburg teacher. She is fully competent and capable, and I know she will do an excellent job making sure the students learn what they need to in 2nd grade. I will be preparing the classroom to make as easy of a transition as possible, but once I am gone, Mrs. Parks will be the students’ teacher. Therefore, some things will be done differently. The students will be left in excellent hands, and I know they will do their best for her so they can have a wonderful year! I will miss working with all of you, but I will be back next school year!
Once I leave, Mrs. Parks will have her own way of communicating with you, so realize that these newsletters and the class webpage will not be updated.  I will, however, keep the spelling lists and general information on the webpage for your use.  Thank you!

             Citizen of the Month

Congratulations to Chandler F. for earning our December Citizen of the Month!!  He has shown excellent character traits this year.  He and Kensley will enjoy their field trip to KFC/Taco Bell with the other November and December Citizens of the Month on January 16th.
