Thank you all so much for the wonderful gifts and surprise shower!  I must say, I don’t know how all the kids kept it a secret from me for two weeks, but they did a great job!  I really had no idea!  It was a very nice shower.  Thank you so much!

               Start of a New Quarter
We’re at day 91 and our 21st week of school!  It’s hard to believe that we’re halfway through the year!  We are sending home a new spelling list for the third nine weeks.  Please keep these lists somewhere easily accessible so students can practice their words each week.  They will need to continue to write their words three times each on Monday nights and write five sentences on Tuesday nights.  Also, please make sure students are reading at least 15 minutes every night.  They can only improve their reading abilities the more they read.

             Behavior Party

Congratulations to the students who earned the nine weeks good behavior party for moving nine or less push pins last quarter.  We will have our pizza and a movie Friday afternoon.  I know that more of you can make it next time!  Our biggest challenge is chattiness, so let’s work on it!

Math Basic Facts

Students have been taking an addition facts timed test each week, and they will now start taking a subtraction one as well.  It is so important for them to master these facts so they don’t have to take time counting on their fingers.  The quicker they know their facts, the easier other skills will be.  Practice, practice, practice!  If you’re in the car with nothing to talk about, use that time to call out facts and have fun with it!

Box Tops for Education Needed!

Please send in any and all “Box Tops for Education that you can find.  The money we raise can help purchase wonderful things for our school.  Plus, the class that bring the most in by February 22nd will get an ice cream party!  There will also be an incentive for earning tickets for the Spring Fling in April!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Attached to this newsletter, I will be sending home a letter requesting a conference if one is needed.  If you do not receive a letter, I do not need to conference with you at this time.  However, if you would like to meet with me, please send me a note, and I would be happy to meet with you the night of conferences.  Thank you!
