Fourth Grade
Homework Policy

Assignments are expected to be turned in on time.
Homework will be given daily and is due the following day unless otherwise specified by the teacher.  Students should not spend more than one hour on homework assignments.  If they give the assignment their best effort and have not finished after an hour, please send a note explaining the situation and they will not be penalized.  Likewise, if a child becomes overly frustrated with an assignment, send a note so they can wait to complete it after they understand.

With that said, late work will not be accepted unless the child was absent or has a valid written excuse from the parent.  Athletic practices and games are not an excuse for not completing homework.  If a student does not have his/her homework, he/she will not get credit for that assignment and will stay in from recess to work on the following night's assignment (in order to prevent a cascade of missing assignments).  Students will receive one homework effort grade for completed assignments that will be averaged in with their graded assignments.

Students will be given ample time to complete any special projects or reports.  It is the student's responsibility to keep up with assignments and due dates.  All assignments should be written down in their homework planners every day.  At the end of each school day, teachers will check to see that each student has filled out his/her planner.
Parents are asked to please sign these planners daily.  It is a good means of communication with your child's teacher as well.
