| Just Another Day By Erin_Cale Disclaimer: See first part. *** Kathryn lay down on the bed in her new quarters. It was quite comfortable actually. Almost as comfortable as her quarters aboard Voyager had been. Voyager... just thinking about that ship made her uncomfortable. Remembering seven years spent in the Delta Quadrant with Chakotay faithfully standing by her made her long for those days. She forced herself to accept that those days were long gone, that Chakotay would never again look at her as he once had. Shaking her head, she got up and headed back out to the main room, where she had left her coffee mug. Taking a sip of the now lukewarm liquid, she thought about the days events. She had accepted Qs offer and come to this universe not quite knowing what to expect. Then she had had a great opportunity to learn about her new environment from the people who had lived in it for all of their lives. As much as she didnt want to it, she had to admit that Q had been right. She found that no matter how much she missed Chakotays strong, subtle presence, this universe held much more excitement and promise than hers had, especially where Dylan was concerned. She had caught him looking at her while she talked with his crew. It had been the same look that had learned to expect from Chakotay whenever she saw him, the look that spoke of longing, but restraint because of the restrictions of protocol. A polite cough interrupted her thoughts. She jumped and turned to find a holographic representation of the ship standing a few feet away. Im sorry. Was I interrupting something? the hologram asked. No, not at all. I was just wondering if you find your quarters suitable. Oh yes. Theyre wonderful. Thank you. The holograms severe look softened. Im glad you like them. If you need anything, just call for me. Thank you. The hologram blinked out of existence. Almost immediately, Kathryn grabbed an old fashioned pen and a piece of paper that she had found in her new quarters. Writing quickly, she made sure that she had written down everything she could remember. Satisfied that she had written down everything she could, she decided to test the ship. Andromeda? The hologram appeared almost instantly. Could you tell me if the engineer- Harper, I think his name was- is asleep? No, as a matter of fact. Hes in the mechanics shop. Could you by any chance tell me where that is? Of course. May I ask why? You and Captain Hunt have been very kind in letting me stay onboard. I want to return the favor. *** |
