Wednesday 23rd - Meeting with Brgermeister & RC of Bad Homburg Kurpark meeting
At 2pm I had a meeting with the Brgermeister (Mayor) of Stadtallendorf.  Herbert Kller, Sabine Steioff, myself, and a lady from the local paper were also there.  It was nice to talk to them, and the Mayor was very kind.  And, the story was in the paper (on the next day, Thursday!)...I will put it on to my website soon.

At 6pm Herbert Kller picked me up to start our 1hr drive to Bad Homburg for the meeting at my second host club.  They are all very nice people and were very friendly to me.  I showed my slides from home and gave a bit of a speech about home and Australia.  They all seemed very interested and I enjoyed it.

Friday 25th until Sunday 27th - Thringen trip
More information will be coming...as I am too tired to sit here typing everything right now...many photos will also be coming!!!  But I have to tell you that this trip was GREAT!!!  It was so much fun with all of the other exchange students!!  Just for those of you who don't know...Thringen is a small state above Hessen.  There is a lot of history surrounding it, as it has links to Bach (the famous musician), Martin Luther (among many others).  We saw old castles and churches and went on tours of towns.  We stayed in a Youth Hostel in Weimer for both nights, and went for a tour of the town, which is also a student town with good universities.  We went out both nights and had a great time (the Sth. American party spirit may be starting to rub off onto me...they are always singing and dancing...i love it!)  Another very famous place in Thringen, not so much for good things, but for history, is Buchenwald.  Buchenwald is a concentration camp, which started in the 1930's.  I found it interesting, although I am still trying to understand and grasp the information we were given and what we saw.  There is not so much of the original camp there, a lot of it is ruins, however it is a little hard to believe, that after visiting there, what actually happened...in areas where I have now stood.  It is all about learning.  Another town we did a tour of was Erfurt.  Today, the bus trip was fun!  Many people slept, but with exchange students, there is always fun to be had!!!
