| Theory and Practice Nov. 23 |
| How do we form theory? How do we form practice? Theory and practice must be formed at the same time. For example, a theory of learning must be based on observations from the classroom and upon our personal experience. Of course, theory also comes from our readings and reflections. Well developed theory is closely allied with practice, in that this kind of theory will equip the teacher for a range of real situations. The teacher should not have to extrapolate too far from what's present in the theory. Of course, situations will arise that are totally unexpected. This is where practice again informs theory. Theory and practice are connected at the lesson-planning desk and in the classroom. |
