Subtle Charade: Those you use to know

With open ears and open mind you used to be able to see,
The manor in which I lived my life you used to believe,
Having belief in something and the greater truth of life,
You felt my need and convinced me I was not alone,
Now I wonder why

Questioning your intentions and actions of sincerity,
You claimed my understanding as your own and became my identity,
I was so eager to identify with one to understand,
I was oblivious to the utter hypocrisy
That would soon become at hand.

My disillusion exacerbated by the very faith in mankind
Deceiving me once more,
As you played along your silly charade,
Reassuring me; what for?

Your utter disregard for the implications at hand,
You proceeded to fulfill your needs
Without professing your stand,
All intentions hidden form those who cared,
How was I suppose to know
The nature of your affairs.

Its ok I have learned a great deal from you,
More than you will ever know,
To bad its nature crushes my continuous beliefs,
And those you used to know.
