The Messerschmitt BF109 is one of the most well known German planes of its time. The BF109 was designed by Willy Messerschmitt to make for Hitler’s Luftwaffe. At first the BF109 had a small engine in it, but once it got a bigger engine, it beat the world speed record by going 379mph in 1937. During the Battle of Britain, BF109’s escorted German bombers into Britain only to come across its primary target, the Spitfire. During the early days of World War II, BF109’s were the most high-tech planes in all of Europe. The BF109 had one Daimler-Benz engine that could take the plane to a height of 37,890ft. The engine could also drag the planes up to speeds of 386mph. The planes were also equipped with two 13mm machine guns and could be equipped with one 20mm or one 30mm cannon. I don’t think I would want to be in a dogfight with a BF109 because those cannons could tear a plane limb from limb.
