Alas, we operate on a very limited budget, hence the need for club dues. Dues are $20 per semester, or $35 per year. Generally, dues are not collected from new members until they have had several weeks to participate in practices. In addition, Non-IUP members and people wanting to compete in nationally ranked competitions will need to join the United States Fencing Association (fee dependent upon age) in order to compete in USFA sanctioned events. This fee is $40.00 for a yearly competitive membership. More information and a printable copy of the form can be found on the following USAF web page: USFA Membership Forms Information regarding club benefits is located elsewhere in this document.

Every member of the IUP Fencing Club receives many benefits. Each member is eligible to vote in club elections. Both practice and electric foils and epees are provided to members for use during practices .. Masks, plastrons, and gloves, are also provided. Transportation to outside competitions is provided. The club secretary keeps a collection of catalogs from the major fencing distributors, and in some cases, we are offered a club discount on orders. Great cardiovascular workouts for those that want it! Of course, competitive and friendly atmosphere are part of the deal as well.
Fencing can be a dangerous sport. The IUP Fencing Club firmly believes that it should not be. ALL new and returning members are informed of important safety issues each semester. We stress safe play. Although accidents can happen, it is the club philosophy to reduce the risk as much as possible.
