History: The Erie League's founding father - Mike Bell - came up with the idea to organize a playoff contest at the end of the 1993 NFL season. The rationale was simple - Owners who had just finished a successful season could use their winnings to pay for the chance to win some more; those that struggled during the regular season could look to the playoffs for the chance to recoup their financial losses. The way it works is that 6-10 owners get together to draft a team from the players who have qualified to participate in the NFL playoffs. Scoring is tabulated for the post-season just as it is during the regular season, but the catch is that there are no head-to-head matchups. Quite simply, whoever drafts the team that scores the most points as a collective unit will clinch the honor of being the Erie Playoff League Champion.
