The Rompin' Stompin' Big Blue Band The Rompin' Stompin' Big Blue Band is the band of Graham High School.
Band is a very interesting place. There are tons of interesting and cool people there with whom you can form lasting relationships. We spend a good deal of our time together, and we got to know each other well. Band is like a tight knit Family. Well, the 00-01 season marching season is about to draw to a close. Our Marching Band will be performing From The Land of the Rising Sun, comprised of Japanese Folk Music arranged by Boerma, who arranges for the Madison Scouts. The music is awesome, although I think we have scared some of our new freshmen with the music. *tehe.* The band received a division one rating at Regional UIL marching for the 21st consecutive year, and was named a State qualifier at the UIL Area Marching meet. At the State Marching Band Contest, we came in 4th in the finals. Godd Job Band. The 99-2000 season was quite successful for the RSB3. We made our 19th consecutive sweepstakes at UIL. We traveled to S. Padre Island and were successful there. We received a division one rating and were named the top band in division 3A. The marching show this year was entitled “Viva Espana,” and during concert band we played Shepherd’s Hey by Grainger, I Vow to thee my Country and Flourish for Wind Band by Vaughn Williams, and Golden Bear by Richards. We had the most members of the TMEA District and ATSSB Region bands. We also had 3 members (self included) representing the RSB3 at the All-State Clinic. Also, the RSB3 was named the top band at Regional and Area Honor Band competition, and we made eleventh place at Texas State Honor Band. Also, two of our contest pieces received a place in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series. This is Mr. Heckaman, he's one of our band directors, I think he's pretty cool. Seeing as how I want to be a band director, I can often be found chatting with him. Our other instructors are Mr. and Mrs. Barrow and Mr. Freeman, I plan to have pics of them soon.
