My Musical Life (this site is under construction) Hi. As I may have stated before, I want to be a band director. I love music, I often find myself conducting away to music I listen to. I have been a member of the Wichita Falls Youth Orchestra for 3 years, also playing with the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra. I have been a member of the all-district, all-region, area, and All-State band during both my freshman and sophomore years. I have received the John P. Sousa award and the Woody Herman Jazz award. This Year has already fast begun, I have been conducting the First United Methodist Choir in Graham, as well as playing the Pipe Organ. I have been marching my little heart out since July, and I have been diligently working on my tryout music. I have already made the qualifying mark for All-Area Choir, so I am happy about that. On Nov 4, I was named the top tuba in our district at Band tryouts!!!! YEAH I received an application to Interlochen Arts Academy, Walnut Hill School, and the Juilliard Preparatory, so I am excited about that. I also enjoy music history, and I am currently writing a in-depth paper on "The Programmatic Orchestra Works of Leos Janacek." Janacek was an enigma in music. His ideas were so revolutionary that he has no colleagues before or since. His ideas helped bridge the post-romanticism of the end of the nineteenth-century with the new forms of twentieth-century music. I have also accepted the position of student conductor of music at the First United Methodist Church in Graham, and I am very excited about that.
