Comments: This appears to be a copy of "Lifehouse Live". Compared side by side, this recording seems to be running at the correct speed, whereas "Lifehouse Live" may be slightly off speed. Overall, the quality is about the same, althought this disc may be a tad better but that could all be due to re-EQ. The cover appears to be a rather clever off-shoot from "The Who Concert File" book.

Live In Chicago 1971 (CD)
Venue: The Auditorium Theater, Chicago, Illinois, USA, Wednesday, August 18, 1971
Recording: Audience
Comment: This is a complete show and includes a lot of banter between the band members of the audience that was included on the CD. The show sounds like it was a very good one, and the sound quality on this recording seems very good for what it is (you can hear all the instruments and vocals clearly on this one, unlike Rome Palasport). The re- corder seems to change speeds at times on the second disk, but nothing major. PT introduces an 11:36 minute version of Baby Don't You Do It on the second CD by asking the audience to join in to an incredible jam of this song - best I have heard of this song! There is an interruption in "See Me, Feel Me", but oh well! This was the second of three consecutive nights at The Theater in Chicago.

GUTTER PUNKS AT A WAREHOUSE
Venue: The Warehouse, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, Monday, November 29, 1971
Recording: Sound-board
Comments: This was the first of 2 successive nights at "The Warehouse" and 5th show over- all of the 2nd leg of the 1971 U.S tour. PT refers to the venue as "...when we first toured the States, this is the kind of places we played in and uh, it's the first electric factory, Kinetic Circus type pisshole we've played for a good long time....don't be over-awed by my big boots or Roger's swinging microphone or his patched trousers, he's only an ordinary punk from the gutter". Magic Bus fades in with RD's harmonica playing and fades out early towards the end. Once again, very nice packaging from the folks at "Hiwatt". The cover is a laminate with a picture cardboard inner sleeve. The sound quality in my opinion is a bit "trebly" and dull sounding in the begining half of the disc but consists of a decent performance.

Comments: This is the entire show, expanded from the vinyl boot by the same name. This show is from the second 1971 U.S. "Who's Next" tour. All comments by the band were left intact and Keith Moon does several song introductions. The cover comes in various colors, manilla, pink or blue cardboard with a yellow or white paper insert / label on the back. The discs are lime green and greenish brown in color with the song titles either abbreviated or de- liberately misspelled. Although this is an audience recording, the quality isn't bad. There are no crackles and hisses as can be found on vinyl. Therefore, "This one's a keeper".

Comments: This is from their second visit to the U.S. during the 1971 "Who's Next Tour". This was the first of two successive nights in San Franciso. Recordings from this era are a bit scarce. The quality of this one isn't too bad. Grab it if you see it.
Note: This performance of Bargain appears on the "Maximum R&B" box set, though the official release was remastered and sounds much better than the audio here.

CD 2 1. Magic Bus 2. Relay 3. Pinball Wizard 4. See Me, Feel Me 5. My Generation 6. Naked Eye 7. Long Live Rock (cut)
Comments: The cover says soundboard, but this is an audience (stereo) recording. The sound quality, however, is quite a bit better than Rome Palasport. This is similar to Flying To New York To Go To Court in sound quality. Though The Who Concert File book makes no mention of Long Live Rock having been played at this show, though it does appear on this CD. As there are no notable sound differences compared to the pre- vious tracks on the CD, I"m presuming it was indeed played. The CD comes packaged quite nicely in a glossy gatefold cover. CD's and LP's from the 1972 tour are somewhat rare and this one is probably worth the money.

Venue: Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Thursday, December 11, 1975

Comments: This is a new release from the "Heart Breakers" label. The sound is identicle to "Live In Toronto 12-11-75" and features the entire show whereas the above listed CD's omitted Spoonful and My Generation Blues. The LP Who Raw is also not a complete version of this show and appears to be very rare mulit-colored vinyl. The back cover of this CD features a photo of RD ca.1975. Compare with the items listed above.

Compare with Who Put The Boot In 1976. This disc is of better sound quality than Who Put The Boot In 1976. Keith Moon introduces the "Tommy" portion with a dedication to the "prisoners in the jail across the road". This disc also includes JAE's My Wife which is neither on the aforementioned disc nor on the vinyl Live At Swansea or Backstage Pass, and Squeeze Box is not cut short on this disc. Compare with Live At Swansea and Live At Swansea, June 1976.
LIVE IN ESSEN - PARTS ONE AND TWO
Venue: Grugahalle, Essen, West Germany, Saturday, March 28, 1981
Recording: Soundboard
Comments: This is from The West German TV show "Rockpalast" and was broadcast live and was allegedly also broadcast live on BBC radio. The Who shared a double-bill with the Grateful Dead on this evening. PT jammed with the Dead and that portion is contained on the Dead's corresponding bootleg release.
Note: There are some "edits" or skips from the source tape on Drowned.

Recording: Soundboard
Comments: This is one comes packaged as a double CD, oddly enough, broken down in to two seperate titles - Dangerous I and Dangerous II. This show was broadcast via over pay per view (PPV) TV and FM radio and is also available on home video. Though combined with Dangerous II, this is NOT the entire show as this is missing an incredible version of Drowned (sic, this version DOES contain Drowned, though is missing Behind Blue Eyes, which was played this night). Several tracks really shine through on this, most noteably, Eminence Front with an excellent intro jam, Naked Eye, Sister Disco with a nicely done PT solo towards the end. Long Live Rock has a stellar PT solo rock 'n roll jam-type coda attached onto it. Excellent!! This is the final show from the 1982 Farewell America Tour.
