Comments: Finally the full set of encores of this concert are available on CD! Previously to my knowledge only ASoS was available, albeit in a truncated form. This 2 CD set has the full concert including the 2nd Encore with a fantastic version of IO. The SQ is fantastic, definitely soundboard as Dave and Rog sound crisp and clear as if right in front of the mics.
A slight hiss can be heard in the right channel on the first disc, but the second disc is flawless. No hiss at all can be heard during the quiet parts. It could have been recorded last week in a studio it sounds that good! That being said, there are some very, very brief "bumps" in the music at various parts, but it's obviously due to the condition of the master, but definitely nothing at all to complain about.
On the back, it says "So you thought you had heard this show before? Never Like this! For the first time we bring you a complete stereo soundboard recording of this show that has often been confused with their appearance at the KQED studios earlier in the day. (See Insert). Unfortunately, as I got this on CD-R, the insert didn't have any information as to the nature of this. However, it appears to fit the exact description of the "Breast Milky" ROIO, but it has Interstellar Overdrive in place of the June '69 material.
Before Interstellar, Roger says "If any of you have been listening to us since we were all teenagers, this is a track off our first album that we've been doing ever since we started and it's called Interstellar Overdrive."
I think the sound quality may be better than on "Breat Milky" (but I haven't heard that one, so I don't really know) because the sound quality is quite good. Maybe I just have lower standards. -STR
Back cover promises "stereo soundboard recording", and it appears to be just that. Audience is exceptionally quiet (one of Waters' deeply romanticized nights of "magical connection" no doubt. At the end, when Waters tells the audience "how nice it's been to play here", he sounds sincere.
Supposedly recorded the same day as the KQED TV show. Band sounds relaxed, in top form, playing their well honed (if somewhat somnambulent) "Atom Heart" tour show. Vastly superior quality to the "Pepperland" audience tapes around, but missing the druggy ambience. A great, consistent, complete performance in a very professional "Original Master Series" package. FIND IT AND BUY IT!!! -CZY DMND

The times of the songs on the back cover, are different from the the times on the CD, and the real times. On the CD, there are some errors on the separation of the songs. BRILLIANT!!!! On the Run is completly different, and The Great Gig is also different (the beggining of TGGiTS seems like the end of SOS, when R.Wright plays beautiful chords on the organ, then there is something said, and then it's like the early years, like Interstelar Overdrive ). D.G. and R.Wright sing at the same time in 'Time', but the melody they sing is different from the one on DSoTM. Also, R.Wright instead of saying "Tired of lying in the sunshine..." says something like "Lying supine in the sunshine..." The initial effects of 'Money' are different. 'Brain Damage' is not complete: they don't sing the second part from "The lunatic is in my head..." to "I'll see you on the dark side of the moon." -RICARDO My copy was the Psychedelicmania show of 29 April 1970. Apparently, there has been reports of people with the same problem, and the reverse -- buying Psychedelicmania and getting Great Gig on the Moon. In other words, try before you buy, if you can. I got this at a convention, so I'll just have to bitch to Teddy Bear Records ... -ANONYMOUS This is great, excellent recording. Some audience talking in quiet bits -- my Japanese isn't good enough to hear what is being said. A few problems with timing when two or more vocal lines at the same time, but nothing too annoying. Love the guitar jam version of On The Run. Very atmospheric version of CWtA,E. Excellent, recommended. -KeithC The best 72 cd I know of. Far better than TSP's, Best of Tour 72. This is one you don't want to let get away as long as you get the right cd. - Greg

Cover claims that this is from London 1972, but it is from a BBC broadcast of the concert at Empire Pool, Wembley, London at 16 Nov 1974. The speaking at the begining of Speak To Me, saying; "I've been mad for fucking years...." a couple of times, is present as oposed to a vinyl version I've heard where this was edited away (censored by BBC ?). A must have. -TOR It is very good quality (Hip Cat billed it as the best live DS recording in existence), but the format is precisely that of the studio album. I much prefer the Kahoutek version becuase of its demonstrable differences from what eventually became the studio version. In this particular recording Roger has a hard time keeping a steady beat in his bass solo at the beginning of Money. At any rate, I would consider this boot to be a must-have only if you're a perfectionist in the completeness of your boot collection. -ANON Good stereo effects throughout the concert. The lady-speaker at the airport is very clear. The audience is only heard at the very ends of "On The Run", "The Great Gig In The Sky", "Money" and "Eclipse", and at the start of "Brain Damage" (just as the audience is supposed to behave). Nice version of "Any Colour You Like" -PIET It would be great if, just for once, a b**tlegger could get everything right. On this CD sound quality and packaging are excellent, yet the date suggested is out by two years: the catalogue number indicates Dark Side from 1972, but it's actually the Radio 1 broadcast of part of Floyd's November 16 '74 Wembely Arena gig. After a little tape hiss during the opening heart-beats, the recording is excellent quality stereo. "I've been mad for fucking years" comes out loud and clear - I bet BBC loved that! On The Run has some quite startling stereo effects, Any Colour You like is nicely improvised and Eclipse ends with loud applause and what sounds like gongs banging away. All in all, a very nice recording of a vintage performance and a slice of nostalgia for we older fans who remember taping the original FM broadcast in '75. The front of the insert is from the same sesion as the Italian 'Piper' cover, except the boys are giving Nazi salutes - it would have been interesting if the press had seen this when Mr Waters played in Berlin. The rear insert of the (jewel-box) CD case is a 1972 promo shot. Strongly recomended. -TAP (#54) The new CD comes in an LP sized box with another box inside. Outside box has a Scarfe like drawing and back has a picture of someone with his hands over his face sticking out his tounge. Box opens with a wax paper (you know the things they use in albums) over it with the bax photo again and Brain Dammage smeared across it. Inside Back picture is repeated again and continued on to the CD sitting in the center. -MISC This recording is taken from the soundboard and is of excellent quality musically. CD is listed as being from 1972; it is really from the 1974 tour. -ECM

Band: David Gilmour (guitars, vocals) Nick Mason (percussion, vocals) Roger Waters (basguitar, vocals) Richard Wright (keyboards, vocals) Xref: Boston Gardens, 18/6-1975 Quality: VG+ Good sound, a little dark (little treble) maybe. -TOR VG+ -HERWIG The sound quality is good, though marred by some audience noise (especially during the quiet parts). -TAP (#50) Comments: Booklet claim that Nick Mason does vocals, and on the cover it is stated that "You Gotta Be Crazy" is written by Waters/Wright. The group is not at their best (is this the absence in the band, that WYWH is about?) but there are some very good versions of "Any Colour You Like" and "Echoes" (with a great sax solo). -TOR Recorded at the Boston Garden, the first CD to cover a complete 1975 US tour set. Most enjoyable are the preformances of "Gotta Be Crazy", which is different to both the 74 and 77 (Dogs) versions, and one of the last pre-87 "Ecoes", with very nice sax solos. -TAP (#50) Great sound quality. This concert is a little heavy on the bass. Each song is a notably good version, especially Echoes and Any Colour You Like. -ECM In as much I was asking about a comparison with the Random Precision CD, the responses I received were more or less given about the shows themselves. All responses were unanimously in favor of the Boston Gardens 6/16/75 show over the NY 6/18/75 show. Many thanks to those who did respond, in fact I'm listening to the Boston Gardens 6/16/75 roio as I type and I can attest to the performance at this show as being top notch. While I will agree on the comments in the roio db about the few edits (especially during SOYCD) as somewhat annoying, the sound and performance is better than I had hoped and more than outweight the deficiencies listed. I would even go so far as to say that if the NY 6/18/75 show is near the level of this show it would be a worthy one to have as well. -ANON Not much to say, except that it's great. I recommend it highly.- PK After they begin playing SOYCD, Roger decides to introduce it by name, but interrupts himelf to make bizarre choking noises: "This one...[strangling noises]...this is called 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'." This is the same "Echoes" as Total Eclipse, but here it's presented with the beginning and ending completely intact. Some of the best stereo I've ever heard in an audience tape. The cash register at the beginning of "Money" has some very clear separation. Good sound, a little dark (little treble) maybe. There are some very good versions of "Any Colour You Like" and "Echoes" (with a great sax solo). Recorded at the Boston Garden, the first CD to cover a complete 1975 US tour set. Songs a little bass-heavy. -MISC

Comments: The first CD includes Shine On pts. 1-5, unlisted on the sleeve. So
this is a complete show! The audience is generally very quiet, and you can tell
the mics were not real high up since the little talking you do hear is very
close and clear. The show was very competent, though not as exciting as the
frenzied Montreal show or as well recorded as Oakland. Definitely worth picking
up, especially for you Animals freaks out there. Why Dogs and Shine On 1-5 were
indexed on multiple tracks, I don't know. The recording has a little bit of
tape hiss, but is comfortable to listen to. -MARK
This new disk from pigs on the wing has the whole show (even though SOYCD 1-5 is not listed). The sound is excellent and problem from the master. Its sounds more realistic that the Oakland recording being less up front and less distorted with the keyboards captured much better (this may be due to the fact that the Oakland recording was taken right next to the speaker so only one channel was picked up. the only problem is that the lead guitar is sometimes a bit to the rear of the mix such as in the sheep solo or at the start of part 8 of SOYCD this is not that bad however and its never that far back in the mix. The sound is also an improvement on the version of this show released by the DFP being from a lower gen source. The show its self is excellent to being halfway between the frenzied last show of the tour and the polished Oakland show. On top of this many of the more improvised areas of the show vary more than every other recording I have heard with SOYCD 6-9 having some very strange wah wah guitar work on it. The packing also is of a high stand although the disks are CDRs they have printed backs rather than stickers and the artwork is also well done. All in all an excellent set and well worth picking up although if u really hate aud noise I would go for the Oakland show first. -GREEN MAN
A very tasty item this. First lets deal with the bad bits. POTW need a proofreader. Dick Perry (sic) and Dave Gilmore (sic) make an appearance. Shine on pts 1-5 are not listed on the cover but appear on Disc one. Disc one has a clumsy edit at the end of Shine on. Dogs is indexed as 3 sections. In fact disc one has 12 index points most of which cause a little jump in the sound on my copy! Last track on disc two is probably the same concert but definately a different source. It's almost mono compared to the rest of the songs. There are also some annoying 'SKRTCH' sounds on both the encore songs. Now the good stuff. The sound is breathtaking and easily the best '77 show I have heard. A good test for sound quality on the '77 tour is what Nick Mason sounds like. Most of the time he sounds like someone playing biscuit tins in an abandoned warehouse. Here it sounds like he's on the same stage as the rest of the guys. The crowd is noisy (as usual for an american gig) but relatively quiet around the taper. One guy complained about the solos not being more up front. He should realise that the solos are being sent around the arena via the Azimuth Coordinator. The CD only has two channels so it sounds like its getting louder and softer. Overall I think the sound quality outways any misgivings about packaging and this is a must buy. -TUZZ

Comments: One of the best audience recordings I have heard. The band is just fantastic... it sounds like they are enjoying themselves this night. It has a very powerful "Have A Cigar", a extra guitar solo on the end of "Pigs On The Wing (part 2) and some jazzy solos on "Shine On... (part 6-9)". It was also the first (and only) time since 1973 that Pink Floyd played "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" live. There are some strange noise on "Wish You Were Here" and 2 fade out/in's on "Shine On... part II". -TOR The only thing bad about this recording (aside from the occasional "hits" it seems in the original source tape -- a good set of headphones will allow you to notice an occasaional momentry "drop" in the stereo -- a hit) is the two things mentioned above. SoYcD parts 6-9 would be perfect if it weren't for the two fade out/ins already mentioned. This version of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" is definitely cool. -DAMON A great recording of a great concert. The band seems to be having a lot of fun (something I assume was rare during the In The Flesh Tour). Roger and Dave laugh hilariously throughout the first verse of "Have a Cigar". The setlist is a winner, too, including "Eugene" as the final encore. Roger does seem to get a bit annoyed at the crowd when before "Us and Them" he tells the crowd, "This one's got a quiet beginning." Definitely pick up one of the RoIO's of this show! - BB I agree with TOR, the band is just fantastic, a flat out 10 on the "inspiration & improvisation" factor. This roio should be in every collection (in addition to Total Eclipse)!!! Pigs TDO and SOYCD 1-5 are just amazing. SOYCD 1-5 has much stronger elements of blues in it, and moves towards blues-rock before the singing starts. Yes, there are some fade outs/ins and there is some crowd noise here and there, but the overall soundquality is still excellent. - GEORG Do not be turned off by the fade-in and fade-outs in the second Shine On suite! No vocals are omitted. Pigs (TDO) seems to cut a couple words at about the 12 or 13-minute mark. I guess this comes with the territory of ROIO's. That having been said, this is a poignant performance with Rick's eerie synths probably the (surprisingly clear, given that this is an audience tape!) sonic and musical highlight on this set. Dave's guitar is very loud on Sheep, so much that you can't hear the first three words of the song! Crowd noise isn't really too noticeable unless you're listening with headphones. The Floyd is very tight, ending each song crisply but with long extended outros at the same time. The WYWH set flows just like it does on the studio album, complete with elevator noises and such. I would recommend it, as it is very similar to the other two CD ROIO's of this performance. - MARK As long as the Montreal gig doesn't show up better-sounding than the Azimuth Coordinator version, I find this the stand out recording of the In The Flesh tour. And yes, it's sure a treat reading about "the swollen pig". -ANON In the review it incorectly sates that Waters seems annoyed about this next one is quiet.... It is actually David Gilmour that says that refering to Us and Them.

First show of 'The Wall' Tour and you can tell. Lot's of things are clearly 'first-performance' errors. During 'Empty Space' a curtain caught fire, which made Roger stop the show in order to have it put out. After the fire was out, Roger says :" Wasn't that Exciting?" 'Another Brick In The Wall Part 3' is a very long version with some great jamming in the middle. The band had to extend this song for a few minutes more because the brick-builders ran a little behind. (Gosh, they should do that more often. This song is the highlight of the show). I used to have a tape of this show, but either my tape came from a different taper or the makers of this roio did some very fine processing. On my tape, I could clearly hear people from the audience making comments on the (female) DJ-host ('What's That Chick Doing On Stage' and 'Take it Off' :-) ). On The Azimuth Coordinator, these comments cannot be heard, so they either have 'cut' them out or a different source was used. The second 'announcements' (Here labelled as 'Isn't This Where We Came In?' is in 'straight' voice. At later performanced this announcement was a direct copy of what the host had said before the show, but with a 'distorted' voice, like a vocoder or something like that had been used. The 'drift aaway blues' does not belong to this show, but is the extra encore of the 6jul77 show in Montreal (which can be found on disks 3 and 4 of the Azimuth Coordinator and on the Azimuth Coordinator part 2 set). The sound quality is not to bad, but certainly isn't great either. There are a few disturbances now and again esp. during 'Another Brick In The Wall pt.2' and at the beginning of 'Comfortably Numb'. But it still is a great show to have. Not a perfect Wall show but, like said before, just the ABITW pt3 jamming alone, makes this a real treasure. This is part 3 of 3 of the already famous 6 CD set 'The Azimuth Coordinator' now also released as 3 double-CD's (But without the book, of course). -ANDRE
