Time for the Fly's midseason report:
Dark Nights First in the standings, last in your hearts, Chuckles men have rallied around, you guessed it, Coal Train Rollins, to jump start their way into to the top of the standings. Coal Train has that look in his eyes this year, the kinda look Mike Decoske gets when he sees a Subway sandwich. (What! the guy likes Subway sandwiches)... Rollins wants it... he wants it bad... and what Coal Train wants, he gets. Da Fly listened in on the DarkNights talkin strategy at their last game: McCardle: "Lets give the ball to Petris" a little later in the game... McCardle: "Give the ball to Petris" McCardle: "Ok lets mix it up, Mikey D I'll pass it to you" Decoske: "What do I do" McCardle: "Give the ball to Petris" Coal Train: "What do you want me to do coach?" McCardle: "You're still here???" Things haven't been all that easy for the Dark Nights, lest we forget the loss to Precision. They've shown they're not invincible especially with a shaky goaltending situation.
DIRTYdogs
Watching a DirtyDawgs game is like sitting through a Kevin Costner film, only not as entertaining (which is bad). Their trap defense along with the clutching and grabbing gets them the win, along with a miffed off opponent. They're putting the dirty back in DirtyDogs ticking off the world one team at a time. The 'Dogs do put up fight, and are gonna be a tough team to beat in a playoff series where they can where wear you down with their onslaught of line changes. You may hate the way they play, which we pretty much all do, but you can't argue with the results. The Thunder Rolls... Despite the revolving door at goaltender the Rolling Thunder have somehow kept competitive. First it was Carkin, then it was Dan McClein, da Fly even got word that heh heh, John Barkley of Turkey Bowl fame suited up at goal. Now thats desperation. If you want a reason to their success you can look at Matt Mangone. He's leading them points and his hustle is what keeps them going. If the Thunder wants to do anything this year, they need their captain Scott Kelly to step up, and step away from the buffet line. Jackson has been alright playing both ways, but they need more offensive production from him too in order for them to slip into the playoffs.
Epic
The Goonies have surprised da Fly in the fact that they haven't killed anyone yet this year. The season is only half over though so they have time. They've started to come on of late with E Mangone getting more involved offensively. In order for them to be successful down the stretch they need Eric Mangone to be their best player, and hope their defense can come around. Johns has been there at goaltender so far for them and they need him to play consistent for them. The Goonies have been physical, sometimes dangerous, and have drawn the fury of many teams, but they seem to be the team havin the most fun out there. No one's gonna be laughing (except for the rest of the league) tho if they can't make the playoffs.
Mustangs
Ok, so they're not the pushover da Fly thought'd they'd be. Their still not great or anything but to their credit they do put up a fight. Is it possible for this team to be the surprise team and make the playoffs??? They've shocked Epic by splitting two series with them, but they're gonna need to keep playing consistent and come up with some big wins over the better teams in the league. So far they've gotten two wins from forfeit and have yet to beat any of the top three teams in the leauge. Goaltending has been their strength along with the surprise play of Buterbaugh.
Precision
Word is they've picked up a solid player off wavers but are gonna need alot more help in order to make the playoffs. What kinda help??? For starters how bout mental help for Stevo-O. Lets take a collection around the league and see what we can do. The other Lavely has been solid offensivly, and they've got some promise, but da Fly don't think its gonna be enough, they need more depth.
From what da Fly's seen pretty much all the teams have got some skill and their's no longer any team out there you can say really sucks big time. The Nights and Dogs, look to be solid picks for the playoffs which leaves the Thunder, Epic, Precsion, and the Mustangs clawing for the final two spots. Its still only half over which means alot can happen, who knows what teams might be pulling off some trades, or working to bolster their lineup. Da Fly hopes to see something crazy happen and he's going with the Mustangs as his darkhorse team this year. Go Mustys, you know I was with ya all the way.
