The Truth about Lies               For E.H

heavy
       black
veils
rise,
eclipsing the sun
   as she speaks aloud
      the tales
          and half truths
while whispering
to herself
        the truth-

and she feels protected
    by these imaginary threads
of fabrication
as if they were a force field
to keep others
   from knowing her secrets,

but everyone knows
       that even through
the heaviest of veils
      the light of truth
          can always be seen.
