Eric Sproul was born in Lahr, Germany on a Canadian Air Force Base in 1982. At 18 months old he moved to Canada. Eric began to learn music in elementary school. The trumpet was not Eric's first choice, however. His first three choices were drums, saxophone and trombone. After all of the instruments were handed out, Eric was handed a trumpet. Eric became involved with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets early into his learning the trumpet. He was a founding member of the 517 Flt/Lt Graham Squadron Marching Band. Eric played all throughout his schooling and graduated West Kings District High School in Auburn, Nova Scotia. He then went onto a gain a university degree in music from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. Since Eric learned the trumpet on his feet his summer job was obvious. He joined the Army Reserve and played with the Band of the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa, Ontario to help pay for school and to gain more performance experience. Eric graduated from Mount Allison in May of 2006. He is now employed as a trumpet player for the Stadacona Band of Maritime Forces Atlantic based in Halifax, Nova Scotia which remained his long time goal since high school.
