Puaka disbanded in 2000 and Mike and Wes have gone on to form Withered in 2003 along with ex-members of Social Infestation and Leechmilk.

| Puaka Balava was originally formed in 1992 as Necroflesh. In 1997, the band changed their name and scrapped all of their material. From this material was written from scratch and in the summer of '98 they recorded and released their debut as a self titled, 6 song CD. It ranges from Sludge to Thrash/Death Metal. Puakas music is a deep anger that is fueled by a range of personal issues from abuse to depression to the death of a friend.
