Deerslaya's and Bx3's Art of War: SOCOM II
Chapter 1: Introduction
A.Thinking like a SEAL
The first part of playing a game of this depth is realising that it is not just a game, and you cannot approach it as such either. Especially if you play as the SEALs. A SEAL is dependant upon stealth, sneaking around enemies. In fact a successful mission and what is considered victory is 100% stealth and you bring back all of the bullets you go in with. You are not a US army ranger. This is not shoot first, shoot second, shoot some more then maybe ask a few questions. You need to do your homework and you need to do intel on your surroundings. Most importantly remember that the SEAL side is geared differently than the terrorist side, the SEAL side is geared and works of teamwork and precision. These are the keys to success. As a SEAL you must work together with the other people on your side, assign objectives appropriately, and trust as a team and work as a team. With team work comes ownage, hands down you will kick their *** 100% of the time as long as the SEAL function AS A UINIT!
B. Thinking Like a Terrorist
A terrorist is built fast and loose, kinda like your mom, just kidding you no humor hack. But yeah built fast and loose, disorganized by nature they are given equipment available to overcome the obstacles in typical lonewolf fashion, as this suits the style of play that most people prefer on the internet. This halo/twitch jockey style works to a degree, it works off the principle of Violence of Action. Hit first the hardest with the most and you will succeed 90% of the time. This works very well against unorganized players over the internet, and n00blings. Seasonsed clan vets and squad based experts will make you pay for those kind of tactics in the end. Fool them once you may but remember most vets learn to adapt to a situation and WILL overcome you. Terrorists do not have the same demands on teamwork as SEALs do. They can rogue and freelance themselves if they wish without hurting the side they play on.
C. Playing Styles
Playing game modes include breach, escort, extraction, demolition, and suppression. I will start with breach and work my way through the list describing my philosophy (and a successful one at that)
Chapter 2: Breach.
A. SEALS Breach
SEALS breach is all about teamwork, and manpower distribution. Relegating down tasks to 2 man teams you can quickly and efficiently take apart and destroy any kind of terrorist opposition. So let us head right into the breakdown of what an 8 man SEAL breach team should consist of.
1. a 2 man sniper team this is a team of 2 snipers who work in tandem though not always together to take out enemy snipers and personnel. They are in the forefront of any breach game.
2. the 2 man smoke team this is your anti-sniper squad, loaded down with smoke and flashbangs this team is responsible for eliminating all enemy sniper activity before your main body gets to work.
3. the 2 man fire team this is your bread and butter a basic rifleman and machinegunner who go around just eliminating any enemy resistance in their way normally they move after the breach team makes their way through the area providing cover for the bomb squad. (this squad may be assigned double duty as a smoke team since the sphere of operations overlap)
4. the 2 man breach team the breach team is the ones responsible for opening holes and breaching the perimeter of the terrorist compound. Once they have breached the walls the 2 man breach team goes on and works as a 2 man fire team or providing cover for the 2 man bomb squad. Always a recommendation for smoke grenades for the breach team.
5. the 2 man bomb squad this team moves last into any area, by general principle but is made up of a stirke leader (bomb runner) and wing man, the wing man provides cover for the strike leader and their only goal is to plant the bomb and see its explosion. In times of extreme measures you may have to make a 4 man bomb squad.
B. Terrorists Breach
1. the 2 man sniper team snipe them before they get to the breach points and you will make life for everyone easier. Hands down. you do not have to work as a team with the other sniper, lonewolf if you want to but every kill you can register before they breach helps out the team in ways you cannot imagine. remember as a terrorist you are a defensive sniper, no such thing as an offensive sniper for the terrorists in breach, does not make for sound tactical effort from an 8 man team perspective. so if things cluster **** and go wrong remember to stay alive, think clearly and watch out for the mines that are placed. remember to communicate since most people often overlook a snipers position because stealth is a high requisite of your job.
2. the 2 man breach point defenders defend the breach points, use grenades, turrets and if they blow the wall, lay down suppressive fire to prevent any intrusion by the accrused SEALS.
3. the 2 man bull rush your job is an especially fun one, get past the walls and take on the SEALS before they get to the walls. Violence of Action folks, get them before they get to the base, hit them fast hit them hard hit them often. Do not let up ever. Kill them before they get to the base and you will make the rest of the game a cake walk for your Terrorist companions. Never ever rush more than 2 people because the enemy snipers and fire teams will mop you up and then run through our base. This is our base and no one come into our house and pushes us around.
4. the 2 man base defender team this is the core of all your efforts a 2 man team covering the main objective of what the SEALS want. To them nothing is sacred, mines laid all over the place and everything, the base defender will usually be the last ones alive because of the amount of camping they do but that is their job, and their only job. If they succeed you win. This should be the only team to go into the interior of the base, no other terrorists AT ANY TIME should EVER enter the base, if the SEALS kill the base defender team then yes the others alive should enter but if not no one else should be in the base. Period. Because you will only screw up the defenses laid down by the base defenders.
more to come.....
