MY POV:

If Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B) is nominated again in 2003, she's already got her Emmy reel wrapped up. The recent episode where Stephanie realized that Deacon is the father of Brooke's baby — and her actions thereafter — was priceless. Stephanie condemning Brooke as the "whore of Beverly Hills," saying that if Brooke weren't pregnant she would kill her, was a classical soap moment — a rarity as soaps search to reinvent the genre. And it was classic daytime diva behavior when Stephanie grabbed Brooke by the hair, dragged her to the mirror to confront her own tawdry reflection, and ordered Brooke to marry Whip — not to protect herself, but to save her daughter Bridget from major heartbreak. With the discerning daytime audience, it's getting harder and harder to bring out cries of delight from viewers over a memorable scene; well, B&B, I'm still squealing. 1
